oh sorry for that, our mistake
I was assuming the usb hole needed to be used?
so basically this is a simpler method, to use this.
can the usb export hole on the s3 be used, with a USb -Phono wire... as another option? or that is more complex? or it does the same job,
Looking at some images of the factory-fitted Golf stereo I'm not convinced it has an aux-in though, at least on the head unit. It doesn't look like it has any sockets tbh. You'd have to check your one. If it doesn't your options are wireless (as above) or new stereo.0 -
Just get a head unit with Bluetooth, that way you can connect ANY device that has Bluetooth capability and also make/receive phone calls without the risk of earning 3 points and a £100 fine.Understeer is when you hit a wall with the front of your car
Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -
The stereo should already have a 3.5mm aux-in socket (most cars have had for years), if it does, use that. A cable would be 99p.
The MK5 Golf does not, the Denison adaptor or similar is what is requred.tafelmoneysaver wrote: »There is a Bluetooth radio on offer in aldi at the moment for about £30.
It should be as simple as pulling the old on out and swapping for the new one.
(Unless the Golf has a bespoke radio size).
The Golf has a double din size radio, there are aftermarket headunits that will fit, but several hundreds will have to be spent.0 -
You can get bluetooth FM transmitters.
This is the one I have.

It also has a 3.5mm AUX socket, and a microSD card slot and a USB socket for pendrives or charging the phone.
Surprisingly good sound quality over bluetooth as well.
The only negative is that the handsfree mic must be a bit quiet, because you have to speak up to make yourself heard on the other end.0 -

A phono to phone connection is much simpler and leaves the USB socket free in case you want to charge the phone at the same time.
For a 99p solution you really cannot go wrong.0 -
You will need to keep the USB connection free to power the device or it could drain on a long trip.
Just install the new stereo (with Aux in). Wire from headset connection to the aux in connection of the radio, as has been explained.
USB lead from phone to charger (Bought separately) plugged into car power socket.
Nothing could be simpler.

Alternative, as you have been advised, make sure new stereo is bluetooth enabled and connect that way. (still advisable to have USB power connected).
If the New stereo is fitted by the supplier, ask them to demonstrate how to do anything you want on it.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I've got one of these;
http://www.globalgps.co.uk/item-23786-parrot-rki-8400-bluetooth-car-kit?gclid=CI6w57Typb4CFZShtAodCBIAug
It's been fantastic. As well as Bluetooth the front comes off to reveal a place for your iPod or smart phone with connectors for charging etc. It has hands free phone calls and can even be voice operated, "call home" etc.
I have an old iPod that I leave inside it permanently for music and my Galaxy S4 connects via bluetooth so no messing about with cables and music selection is easy, messing about with an mp3 player while driving to change the music can be tricky, not to say dangerous.
I'm sure there must be a lot of similar units but I only have experience of the Parrot.
One thing to consider is useability. A made for the job unit works on even the shortest journey. Messing about connecting cables and having your mp3 player or phone takes time and is messy. With bluetooth your phone stays in you pocket so you'll never have to remember to disconnect it and take it with you and.One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0
