Has anyone dealt with this shop? www.gotmand.net

They have some good prices and appear in the google shopping searches so if they are a scam a lot of people may fall for it. Has anyone used them.? They do have a contact address and phone number which is more than can be said for some of these sites....
"GOTmand – Great prices on Mobile, Tablet, Computer, and more.
520 Eskdale Rd
Uxbridge, Greater
London
UB82RT Telephone:
+447707533025"

Even more curious from the Ts and Cs page:
"3 . Prices
3.3 All prices on the site are in EURO and include VAT
3.4 Remittance of any taxes in the country of delivery , if not Netherlands , is at all times responsible and expense of the customer . A package can not be refused if it would be paid for .

13 . Applicable law / jurisdiction
13.1 All agreements are subject to Dutch law."

So is this company based in Holland or London. Most strange... The prices clearly have the £££ sign on the site not the Euro !

Statscrop says:
Gotmand.net has 13 days old, Its seo score is 43.8%. IP address is 23.229.157.39, and its server is hosted at ?

  • Hi Martin,
just bumped into your note whilst I was querying exactly the same site.
I am concerned about this Gotmand.net that just popped up.
Strange inconsistencies throughout as you pointed out…for instance the final price on checkout does not even mention VAT (despite the fact that the item page mentions the price being ex-VAT) and yes I have noticed odd turn of phrases that might mean is a site concocted just to rip people off…

Looking forward to anyone else's feedback…?

The phone number is mobile number, probably PAYG so it won't trace back to anyone.

The address seems to either be up to let, or is a youth centre if you do a Google search.

Don't use this website. It's a definite scam.

The only method of payment is by bank transfer which is virtually non-traceable. It's a payment method favoured by Lithuanian criminals.

The address has been faked. The phone number is a mobile. The email address is gotmand33@gmail. com which is free. The website was only registered 19 days ago and the contact details have been hidden using a proxy.

  • So, assuming you were silly enough to be persuaded by a deal on this site even though you'd had the same concerns what would you do to try and get your cash back?

    My plan of attack:
    • Contact my bank
    • Contact the gotmand bank
    • Report on Google
    • Notify ISP

    Any suggestions?

I'm so glad I read these reviews first.

I was all ready to buy a new Nexus 5 for the bargain price of £222.53 with free shipping (gotmand.net/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=21856).

As I started going through the checkout process alarm bells started ringing.

The lack of shipping options was really annoying and then to be asked to make a bank transfer as the only method of payment sent me running.

I tried calling the mobile number listed on the support page, but it's been disconnected and while the email response was scarily fast when I asked about insured/tracked shipping and other payment methods, in the end I walked away.

I've even reported the site as being potentially fraudulent to Google as it appears front and centre when searching for Nexus 5's on their shopping results.

    Thanks to everyone.
  • I got scammed for almost a grand from them and doesn't seem anything I can do about it

If you have given them your money by bank transfer then its gone.

Unless you can convince the bank myour account was used without your permission. But you dont want to go telling lies otherwise you maybe looking at the police knocking on your door instead of the scammers.

If you really want to do something. Help warn others in future. Make everyone aware never to buy online using bank transfers.

    My plan of attack:
    • Contact my bank - They'll say "Sorry nothing we can do you authorised the transfer"
    • Contact the gotmand bank - They'll say "Speak to the customer", but due to DPA we can't tell you who that is
    • Report on Google - Won't get you your money back
    • Notify ISP - Ditto
    Any suggestions?

Your money's gone unfortunately - deals are "too good to be true" for a reason.

No it is not necessarily, there is a new banking code that the majority of banks have signed up for.

Anyone on this thread that has paid via BT I suggest you contact your bank with a view to them getting it back. If the other account does not have those funds in there it is unlikely you will get it back but I doubt all the scammers are aware of the new code so you might, just might be in luck

I suspect you're referring to the code assisting people who have inadvertently transferred money to an incorrect account. Not people who have fallen foul of a scam by deliberately transferring money. I reckon it's pretty likely the money transferred is no longer within the UK banking system.
