This issue is probably a classic example of that 'first world problems' trend, so I'll take any belittling of my issue since I am in the for if line for it!

I appreciate all the input however, even if most of it was basically believing this problem was nonsensical, which looking back it probably is. I think I'll just have to suck it up and purchase the freezer and look into getting rid when I move on.

I guess after sinking over £350 in fees I was hoping that I wouldn't have to pay out anymore for this rental!

Try your local freecycle website, you could get one for free.

Tried Freecycle, eBay and Gumtree, unfortunately all the ones I've looked at are not suitable.

I need a compact one since the only space we have for one is under the stairs, which allows us to fit in something 50cm max. Unfortunately all the ones currently available near to my area are a more traditional size of 55cm.

I've talked with my partner and I think we are just going to buy a fridge/freezer, so that we can take it with us into our house when we have saved up enough to purchase our own. Does mean I'll get stuck with an extremely compact fridge/freezer for years to come, but I guess in these times that's the least of my problems! :rotfl:

I'm probably taking this issue harder than I should, but my agents have been totally rubbish up until now. Nothing heard after initial reservation fee for a few weeks until I had to chase them to issue the contracts to sign. Then this phone call two days prior to the tenancy...

Perhaps I'll just email in a complaint to the agents about how they have handled things. They really just need a kick up the backside because their communication has been absolute tripe.

If you think the agent has been crap the party you should be sharing this information with is the landlord they represent.

Just because you have paid the agent tons of money does not make them YOUR agent. They are not, they are the landlord's agent/conduit/intermediary. They have never acted on your behalf and never shall.

. We are happy to go out and buy the freezer and take it home, as long as we get reimbursed in some manner.

We have looked at a cheap standard freezer, which is £110. I'd either want to be reimbursed for the purchase or £10 taken off the monthly rent.

Do I have a case here? They did not tell us about the lack of freezer until two days before we were set to move, so we couldn't find somewhere else even if we wanted to!

There are many people in the world who want things, but don't get them. Some want things such as luxury cars, others just good health. If you want a freezer, then for goodness sake go & buy one & don't expect a LL to have to put his or her hand in their pocket to supply you one.

Freezers are hardly standard items supplied with a rental, like say a cooker or a bed would be. :o If there is something that you want that isn't supplied, then just take responsibility for satisfying your own need & buy one & then you have one for your next property too.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Your post is rather rude. The agent stated a freezer was included. Twice. So OP did have a reasonable expectation that these would be provided.

And for your info, white goods are fairly standard in non-furnished lets. Beds are not.

But even that bit is confusing.

The agent told them that the freezer was not included

.Perhaps when they said it did have a freezer they meant the one in the fridge?

Ask for ex display in the big retails - can get a discount on the basic appliances that have been in the showroom + free delivery from what I remember

Least you've not got to get rid of something that isn't working OP - my flat at the mo came with white goods very old, had better days so much fridge/freezer barely functioned - came to arrangement that I would ditch (fortunately Curry's would take away free :) for anyone else) and in turn had my own un-used sparkly new one to take advantage of! well as near to it :D couldn't beat it, saves quibbling trust me!
