Relocating with children

Yep - exams next week in fact
but thanks!
I have an appointment with Sir Thomas Richs in a few weeks for my DS, just looking for something of similar calibre for DS - I know I need to get a wriggle on with that though. Hoping to see schools the same day.
I've checked the commuting to Bristol and that looks easily doable, so definitely something to consider I think. I do like really like Bristol, just not sure I want that city environment for the children at the moment. But for work? Possibly, especially if there is more opportunity for it.
I am originally from Swindon, although moved from there when I was really small.
I don't want to be too far east due to having to get the children back and forth to their Dad regularly.0 -

I'd choose Somerset over Gloucestershire every time, but mainly because it's further from the m-i-l![/QUOTE]
This made me chuckle

If your set on Bristol, Yate is easily commutable (has rail station) and is very affordable with ample housing (has grown over last 10+ years) , or Chipping Sodbury is a nicer town, but more expensive obviously (Again know people from there too)...
Good Luck with your exams BTW - and didnt realise the visits to dad were part of the equation -0 -
I live in Thornbury in S Glos. Easy acces to M4 and M5 so you could relatively easily commute to Bristol, Gloucester, Cheltenham or perhaps even Bath. Also the old Severn crossing is minutes away so easy to get back to S wales when you need to. Last year the town was voted the 4th best town to live in by the Telegraph. The schools are pretty good and theres are loads of clubs and activities for your kids to get involved in. Property is probably considered on the pricey side - but there are cheaper areas nearby. Traffic into Bristol is awful though - so if your job is going to be in the city you will need to consider that in your search too.0

Thanks for the good luck... I should really be making better use of my half day from work to revise
I'll look into those areas too, although I am kind of looking more towards the Longlevens area in Gloucester to live, I don't mind commuting though.
I suppose he does need to factor in to my plans somewhere!! Regardless of what I think of him, he is still their Dad... (sigh!)0 -
Yes, I think that I would probably get the train in to Bristol rather than drive, purely for that reason.0
