when i got my focus last year (gone now didnt like it) looked at motorpoint but got a far better deal 2 miles down the road at the ford main dealer, motorpoint was a fixed price no haggling where as the ford dealership was room for negotiation0

the downsize of car supermarkets is that you usually need a car to drive to one.0
-
Just did a check there.
2013 Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI Zetec with NAV.
Motorpoints price = £12999 + Various admin fees.
Evans Halsaw (Ford Main Dealer) = £12197
Bristol Street Motors (Ford Main Dealer) = £12495
Both Ford dealers will knock a few ££s off.
Bristol Street have at least two car supermarkets in the midlands no admin fees and they will knock a few quid off the screen price.0 -

It's downside and yes if you want to drive to one you would need a car.
However if you want to use public transport there is always that option.0 -
I would stick to Motorpoint or Fords of Winsford. Thougb noticed last year that FoW is not as competitive as they once were.
If yoi go near London avoid Trade Sales out to the West of London. I have had no problems with CarGiant but some say they wouldn't use them..
Also CarCraft are a seriois no no.
Motorpoint prob your best bet.
And compare prices on like for like vehicles and be fussy.0 -

Since when has Cheshire been in the midlands?0 -
You can pick up the occasional bargain but the car superstores sell the ex-lease and contract hire fleet cars that the franchised dealers wouldn't want on their forecourts. Most are high mileage and will have bodywork imperfections. Often, they stock the less popular colours and the 'wrong' specification – base models, cloth seats and manual transmission of prestige models, high emissions engine version.
When I last looked at Car Giant, the prices were higher than book when adjusted for the mileage. Trade Sales used to sell small hatchbacks from the daily rental fleets, often less than 12 months old, which can be good value compared to franchised dealers.0 -

Many of the dealers round here use the price as a quick indicator to the salespeople of how long a car's been in stock. It'll start off at 6490, then go up to 6491, 6492, etc as the weeks go by.
Odd that the prices increment rather than decrement, but saves them having to remember that 9=1 week, 8=2weeks etc.0 -
Then it doesnt sound like a great process if it means your forecourt is full of cars that wont start?
Hardly gives you the impression the car has been cared for by the dealer....
What's the alternative though without telling the customer they cannot look at the car running?0 -

I would say we see a few complaints about Evans Halshaw. Main ones being - they don't haggle and they always stick on fees for admin and their laughable £99 HPI check so no difference to Motorpoint
Bristol Street Motors sounds a lot more local and much more likely to deal. (Although I know nothing about them)What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0
