Oh well, it must be true then - someone anonymously posting on a Daily Mail article (I didn't bother finding that post).

I would refer back to the T&Cs for the Club Lloyds and not try to outsmart them. And if you did manage to outsmart them against all odds, the very last thing to do would be to brag about it on a popular Internet forum. And if you bragged about it on a tabloid website like thisismoney.co.uk, well,it didn't add any value for anyone , apart perhaps from Lloyds. Think about it.
Does seem a bit suss as it says that the accounts are funded by each other with the £1500.

We were told that you could no longer do that like you could with the Vantage it had to come from an outside account now.

Nothing in the T&Cs that says you can't. So whoever told you was trying to pull a fast one.

It was the lady in Lloyds when we had the appointment to change from Vantage to Club. She said it could no longer be done and it had to come from another account. She said it could go back the same day but could not come from another Lloyds account.

    The T&Cs are clear

What I am doing doesn't matter - the only ting that matters are their T&Cs. From what I can see, there is nothing in those T&Cs that detail where the £1,500 a month have to come from.

Any Lloyds staff telling you anything different to their published T&Cs is wrong and you should formally report to Lloyds if you were given wrong or misleading information.

When do you get the cinema tickets?

We opened our accounts about three weeks ago and chose them as our option at the time of opening.

    Hi POPPYOSCAR,

We allow 30 days from the account opening date for customers to change the benefit they chose. After that has passed for you, the vouchers will be sent (usually within 3 working days). Info can be found here.

The credit of £1,500 to activate the fee waiver can be any credit payments made to the account. That includes salaries, benefits, cash, Faster Payments or standing orders. I'm not sure why you were told otherwise, so apologies for that.

    Hope this helps,

I've received my cinema tickets via email. They look pretty and all, but what am I supposed to do with them now? I don't have a printer so can't print them out. I suppose I could take a photograph of the email, but I think Vue will want something they can put in the till? The T&Cs specifically prohibit them being used online.

It doesn't mention anything about having to print them out in the special conditions, it just says "3 working days by post and 3 working days by email". Does this mean I'll receive paper copies in a few days? Or do I have to request them?

Hi Hominu. You would normally need to print the vouchers and take them along to the cinema. As you don't have a printer, please give our Lifestyle Benefit Helpline a ring on either 0845 30 30 303 or 01733 462 224. When you call, just mention you're unable to print them and they'll arrange to have vouchers sent to you by post.

Hope this helps and enjoy the movies,

We have a total of 10 Vantage current accounts with Lloyds.

1 joint Premier Vantage. This is the main account and has all the DDs running in it. We try to keep it at £3k -£5k credit balance

9 personal Classic Vantage. No DDs in any of them. We also try to keep £3k -£5k in each one. Every month we sweep the excess interest into the Premier Vantage account.

Have just upgraded the Premier Vantage to Club Premier.

However, we cannot upgrade the Classic Vantage accounts to Club status. One can only upgrade a minimum of Silver to Club. There are Classic, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Premier, each with slightly different benefits and monthly subscriptions. Silver subscription, the minimum which can be upgraded to Club status, has subscription of £9.95 per month.

Since we both already have the Premier benefits with having a joint account, then there is absolutely no benefit to be gained by us doing any of the Classic upgrades to Club status. We would have to earn at least £9.95 in interest to cover the Silver account charge.

I am now afraid we have no other alternative but to close these 9 No. Classic Vantage accounts and take our £45k elsewhere.

Any and all ideas and suggestions are most welcome.

I can empathise how it was a Lloyds glitch/technical 'slip up', which we capitalised on to open the Classic Vantage accounts in the first place. That is/was not my problem. I just capitalised on finding it out and how to benefit from the glitch. We all of us know what 'a fight' it is to find an interest earning home for our money these days and that there is no sign of us savers getting much help with this predicament any time soon. So I don't feel one shred of guilt about ending up having all of them.

I do feel a bit sad about the possibility of having to now break with Lloyds Bank to some extent as I try to find a home for my money elsewhere. Banks need customers but the relationship does have to be Win/Win. Me upgrading these Classic accounts to accounts costing £9.95 per month just to get some interest is daft. Neither can I meet the DD requirements on them if I were to upgrade and so I would also incur a £5 per month Club charge too. With a partner, one can only have three club accounts anyhow - personal, personal and joint.
