Going back to Sky. Set-up Fee?

Hi everyone, I am thinking about going back to Sky. They sent me a letter with a 50% 6 month discount if i come back to them. I'm on Freeview at the moment. I still hae the Dish on the back of my house as i previously had Sky a couple of yrs ago. But they still try to charge me a £25 set-up-fee. Is there a way round this, as i don't think they will have to do much to reconnect me. I really don't want to pay the fee if i can avoid it.
Thanks for your anticipated help guys.

Have you used the dish since you last had Sky? If not how do you know whether it is still correctly aligned (there have been some horrendous storms in the last couple of years) and working? How many cables are running from the dish and how old are they? If you do not pay the £25 setup fee which will check that everything is still working (and probably replace the dish and lnb) and optimally aligned. Sky would still charge you £15 for despatching a box to you for self install - is it not worth the extra £10 to have everything checked and confirmed as being correctly aligned - at least you would then have 12 months gaurantee on the whole installation whereas the self install option (if available) would only gaurantee the Sky box. Really trying to save that minimal amount is a false economy if the system hasn't been used for a couple of years.0

Yeah you're right, I have paid it now anyway and they're coming on Thursday afternoon. I didn't think about the dish and the storms. Oh well, it's in their hands now and i'm sure it'll be fine.0

Do you still have the old box? Depending on your use it might be worth getting the Sky guy (for a small donation) to cable to a spare room and use it there.0
