Blacklist, Criminal Minds, Ncis, Ncis LA, SVU, Hawaii Five 0 ...

Books - James Patterson books are good ...

I've watched a few episodes of criminal minds and I loved Castle - a bit fluffy for a crime series but fun. Might give the Hawaii 5-0 a go.

    yes I like James Patterson.

I need suggestions for books to read and tv series to watch, its getting desperate - some of the stuff I'm reduced to reading and watching, well, it ain't good!

I'm getting into Game of Thrones. Breaking Bad, The Wire are classics.
Suits? MadMen? Fargo? Older series like The Shadow Line? Pushing Daisies?
For reading, anything by Bateman, Brookmyre?

Depends what kind of stuff you like, but here's a few suggestions:
    books (stuff I've read recently)
Janet Evanovich 'Stephanie Plum' series, about a female bounty hunter in New Jersey; thriller-type stories, but very funny - some of the characters and situations are laugh-out-loud; books are only short, too, so no time to get bored
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephanie_Plum#Character_history
Michelle Young-Stone, 'A Handbook for Lightning Strike Survivors'

a lot of U.S. fiction recently has been a bit rubbish IMHO, but this is one of the better ones, as are:
Brock Clarke, 'An Arsonist's Guide to Writer's Homes in New England'
    http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/733462.An_Arsonist_s_Guide_To_Writers_Homes_In_New_England
Lisa Grunwald, 'The Irresistible Henry House'
    http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6706812-the-irresistible-henry-house
    Also,
M L Stedman, 'The Light Between Oceans'; family saga-type
    http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13158800-the-light-between-oceans
And 'Let the Right One In' is a modern classic

though if you've seen the U.S. film adaptation, don't let that put you off (the original Scandinavian film version was a lot better).
    TV
Don't watch a lot, but the 'Nighty Night' comedy series is very funny though very dark.

I like thrillers, crime if its not too long winded. Anything really as long as its well written, nothing too sad though.
Also try the Bernie Rhodenbarr series by Lawrence Block

crime thrillers, in the loosest sense, though; 'comic mystery novels' is a better description, funny, cleverly plotted and well written; not too long, either, the storylines fairly zip along.
