My son has the same model laptop as me. It is a HP Pavillion G6. He has had it 16 months so it is out of warranty. Suddenly today the keyboard stopped working. No keys are operational at all. The mouse pad is still working.
he has tried closing it down and restarting it but it hasn't helped.
Any ideas please anyone?
Thanks

Hi,
Try the following.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to see if this will launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu. Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys ( assuming they work in this menu ) to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Note: If you find the keys don't work in the Bios menu, then this is likely to be a Hardware issue.
Regards,
DP-K

There are lots of other reports. Not sure if the solutions are the same. I'm typing this on the same laptop. I find the keyboard poor as it often missed spaces and sometimes other characters - not that this is anything to do with the problem of course.0 -
Thank you so much, that has worked. Im so grateful0

I spoke to soon, some of the keys are working now but some not. Will repeat the process and see if it helps.0

If some keys work and some don't it sounds like the ribbon cable linking the keyboard to the main board has somehow come loose. Did the lappy suffer any impacts? There are usually youtube videos showing how to disassemble laptops. You'd need to find one that looked exactly like yours as model numbers may get reused. The other thing you may try is SOGA arguments with the dealer you got it from - a laptop busting in 16 months is not really acceptable. There are consumer rights board on MSE that may be a better place to ask about taking that approach.0

Hi everyone
I would like to know if I am within my rights to cancel a carpet ordered and paid for on my credit card (carpet right) in store. I'm still within 7 days but I would like to know my rights before I contact them. I.e. Full or part refund, charges for cancelling etc.
Many thanks for your help

I'd suggest you start a new thread on the correct board then you might get a more informed answer - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1730
