Hubby seems dead against the picasso - not sure why?? I think we are now torn between the zafira and the scenic. Although the c-max is still an option. With the scenic you seem to be able to get more for your money but OH is a vauxhall man and will take some persuading!! Oh would also love a land rover!!

We have had a zafira for approx 2 years. Would not get another one. We have had a couple of engine problems on it, that cost approx £200 on each occasion to fix. When I checked on the internet it was a known fault with zafiras. We have also had a problem with the central locking and last week the back door wouldn't open or close. Cost £90 to fix and that was with a second hand part.

It is also making a funny noise at the moment, though it is running fine so will leave well alone for now.

If we had the ready money available we would buy a new people carrier, though def not a Zafira.

What makes it worse is my husband has had the same Mazda for over 10 years with no problems.

If you need three full seats in the back, why not the more traditional approach of a big estate car, there'll be plenty of Volvo's out there at your budget.

What about the volvo 7 seater? Anyone have an opinion on that. OH likes it but I am not so sure. We have a vectra at the moment which we both love but will just not be big enough.

we have a citroen berlingo, and can fit a baby seat, and two high backed booster seats easily on the back seat

also, they are alot cheaper than the scenic/zafira 2nd hand, and the boot space is great, i can fit the pushchair in without having to put it down (quite handy when its raining, and your in a hurry)

Berlingo's are great too..not quite your traditional car look but very handy esp the sliding doors! O/H has a berlingo and forgot he gets the same family members in as i do lol!

PS if your O/H is going on the old french car ...problems scare stories I can honestly say that we have had no problems in the time we have had the cars.

I really like the Berlingo - it's a honest, functional car. And I prefer the sliding doors to normal doors in tight parking spaces when you need to strap the kids in/out. But OH is Her Imperial Grumpiness Princess Hyacinth Bucket and won't entertain the idea.

I was going to suggest the berlingo too - great car for a family - the sliding doors mean no bashed cars when kids fling the doors open! And three seats with 'proper' seatbels - no middle lap belt.
