There are many different types of surgery for a dislocation. My partner needed a bone graft to keep his shoulder in place (Latarjet proceedure) - this can be up to 6 months rehabilitation.

    This.

I had my shoulder pinned about 20 years ago to stop it subluxing. The recovery was about 3 months: 6 weeks of total immobility and then the same, or more, of physio.

You'd need to talk with the medical folk to find out what sort of surgery they have in mind.

In the meantime you have my sympathies, unstable joints are no fun at all.

hi rosie - I guess it would depend on your rate of healing and many other factors. they may decide on physio first.
Nice to see you online again! hope you are well otherwise!

Hi rosie, it's good to see you back. I've never had this type of surgery either, but I see you've had some feedback from others :)

    How are you doing? xxx
