Help please
I bought a camera lens from CEX and now the police have contacted me after obtaining details from CEX demanding seizure of the lens because it has been reported stolen.
I purchased it through Paypal using a Mastercard so it would seem as though I have some buyers protection but who from???
Thank you MSE

From the retailer (CEX). Did you buy it with a credit card? If so they are jointly liable as well.0

No. We don't know how much the goods cost.
Plus op used PayPal so there is no direct link between op and the retailer, thus cc company not liable.
It's well known nowadays that using PayPal can actually do more harm than good in terms of protection0 -
When did you buy it op ?
Have you contacted them yet ?0 -
The Sale of Goods Act covers this situation. CEX are in breach of contract because they had no right to sell the items as they still belong to the original owner. Take whatever paperwork the police give you when reclaiming the lens to CEX and ask for your money back.0

Cex couldn't have reasonably be expected to know the items were stolen though .0

Have you thought of just speaking to cex?!!0

So the op should take them to court?0
