Thanks for all your replies, I bought it online and shops don't have a direct telephone number, I have completed CEX's contact form yesterday but I don't image they will be replying too hastily. They do have a store quite close to me so I will call in to see if they can help.
What if something was to happen to the lens whilst its still in my care, could I be legally responsible for it if it was stolen from me today...0 -
I am just back from a local CEX store, their rep tried to help but an instant refund wasn't available, however he has emailed the head of "online purchasing" and will be in touch when he hears back.
He did use CEX's online database to perform a check on stolen property and it didn't show up. There policy regarding buying/trade-ins is that the seller has to produce ID and contact details... a paper trail for a thief ??
I have returned home with the lens0 -
Sounds likes someone has pulled an insurance scam to me. Sold it to CEX, waited a bit until it's passed checks, then reported as stolen and claimed on their insurance.0

A paper trail for anyone selling goods is usually required, yes.0 -
