Tell Vodafone we're going to USA?

We have two phones w. Vodafone: one on business contract, the other on personal pay monthly.
Should I (make two phone calls to them) to tell them that we're taking both phones out of Europe, in case they get blocked or something? How confident can I be that giving them that information will be accurately logged to both phone numbers?
They would only be used for emergency contacts while there: no calls, texts or anything else otherwise. This has already been agreed between us, because I've seen the charges for making and receiving calls and texts.
I'm only asking here, because usually it yields a faster response than trying to contact them directly.

It's simple.
If you already have roaming enabled you don't need to phone them. If you don't have roaming enabled, you will need to phone them.====0 -
Dont forget your phones maybe looking for a data connection to update the time, weather, emails and any other apps on your phones.
So could be using data when you think it shouldnt.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Is the business contract phone provided through an employer or is it your own business? The reason I ask is because there have been horror stories on this forum of people accidentally running up bills of thousands of pounds on holiday and their employer asking them to pay it back, which is obviously a pretty difficult situation. I don't think I'd risk taking a business phone abroad - why not get a cheap payg instead?0

Thank you, I just logged into Vodafone website and made sure roaming enabled on both phones. Then I had an on-line chat with a human being which was reassuring.0 -

Thanks for that heads-up. I may disable data roaming but will have to think about the implications.0 -
Surely if you simply switch off data roaming, then no updating/downloading can be done by the phone in the background?
Some years, I take my phone out of the country twice a year to the Caribbean and have had no problems, and I'm with Vodafone. I swtich off data roaming, my voicemail, and switch to airplane mode. I sometimes do a wee bit of texting to home, and just get charged the additional going rate.
But I never inform Vodafone.David.0
