Hi,
I have seen the following in computer shopper where its possible to download the iso of xp plus all the updates, just in case Microsoft drops the updates in the future. All perfectly legal before anyone jumps on me....lol
http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/software/1306762/how-to-slipstream-an-xp-disc-with-sp3-and-all-other-updates
Does anyone know of anywhere where maybe I could do the download the above as it does involve quite a few steps to make your own.
Thanks

For a specific machine?
You should alway make your own, as then you'll know exactly what is in it.0 -
You have to do it yourself.
There used to be a site that produced applications for Windows that contained all the service packs and updates and would install them in one go (NeoWin rings a bell). MS stamped down on them and stopped them doing it.
Therefore your only (legitimate) option is to build your own slipstreamed package. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Can you only slipstream service packs or other updates as well?
Can you slipstream multiple service packs as well?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -
not worth the effort, just backup!!

I do back up (mainly my data though, with the occassional O/S backup).
I was just wondering if I need to a full reinstall if I can slipstream all the services packs and updates to save downloading them all over again.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

You can include anything you like in the install.
so you can have all the drivers and applications already installed and configured in the iso.
if you dont want to goto the effect of slipstreaming, you could just reinstall, do all the updates and get it to the state you want it, then take an image. Then instead of reinstalling from the iso/cd you just restore the image each time0 -
Used this one last week without any problems.I wanted to know whether this windows xp sp3 professional installation will ask for a cd key during or after for activation or installation?

This is official free version so dont worry
Seriously? Am I living in a parallel universe? The OP asked for XP SP3 disc replete with the latest updates and you link him to an unverified copy of XP Professional...without all of the latest updates. Retail, OEM, VL...we don't know.
It's a dodgy disc if I've ever seen one. Half OEM/Half VL, replete with a 'borrowed' Volume Licence key that can be found on a five year old website under 'VLK keys that can pass the WGA Validation'..... and a hundred other similar websites.
Is this a warez website now?0 -
If you're worried that Microsoft will pull the updates, download them all with
http://download.wsusoffline.net/
There is a client program included which will install all these updates for you afterwards.0 -

I disagree -- with nLite you can have the whole OS, drivers and everything but applications set up cleanly with an unattended installation. And tweak the whole OS to your liking...Can you only slipstream service packs or other updates as well?
You can install both Service Packs and Hotfixes (other updates).
RyanVM's site has a "Post-SP3 Update Kit", which contains all the important MS hotfixes after SP3:

Yup, if necessary.0 -
Disagreements are often interesting.
or you could just backup with macrium, it's much faster.
I know what nlite, and other similar things can do, and some of the problems it can cause, I've done it .. it was a waste of time then, as it would be now. When xp ownership is on a downward spiral, it's even more a waste of time. In fact most of the updates post sp2 are a waste of time too, cue security paranoia.
Unless the op has an abundance of xp machines he wishes to reinstall, it's rather pointless, although people might find it interesting from a technical point of view, it's unlikely to get used in anger!!
