Virgin PAYG Triband Advice Please
Hi everyone.
I am so confused please can someone help me?
I want to purchase 2 mobile phones for Hub and me to use on Florida Theme park holiday. So they need to be triband.
We are currently happy with Virgin PAYG 2 phones costing less than £10 a mth added together! (we aren't big users)
I don't want to shed a load of money out for new phones. Can I buy a second hand phone on ebay and get my Virgin SIM to work in it? and then will it work in the USA?
My budget is as low as possible although I do have a preference towards Nokia phones and I have always wanted one with a camera on it.
Any suggestions welcome
thanks

i reckon that a nokia 6230i will do for you. if you get one locked to any network, we should be able to supply an unlock code for you.
you can buy a second hand phone if you want and use it in the USA with your virgin sim0 -
I'd recommend against using the Virgin SIM over there, as the roaming costs will be too high.
So you might get a cheap phone and local SIM when you get there.0 -
Of course you could also look on ebay for phones that other travellers have brought back from the States that are u/s here so may be a bargain.Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning. Albert Einstein0

Calx,
When you arrive in Florida, go to a store and purchase 2 Tracfones and 2 air-time cards. You can buy a standard phone for $19.99 (about £10) or a flip-phone for £29.99 (about £15). The air-time cards are $9.99 for 30 units (1 unit = 1 minute). You may be able to get camera phones, but they will be more expensive.
Then register on the phone or online (at an internet cafe or resort) to activate the phone. You will be able to call each other straight away. The biggest advantage is that after 2 working days (Mon - Fri) you can also call the UK for the same cost (1 unit per min, i.e. about 16p per minute)
You can top up online or by buying more air-time cards and registering them on the phone.
In May they were giving extra free air-time for registering on line and also for signing up for Tracfone Insider (basically a newsletter)
Their web site is http://www.tracfone.com/ It can be a little tricky to navigate, because it may assume you have a phone already and keep asking for your IMEI. However, if you know the zip code of where you are staying (Kissimmee is 34747, International Drive is 32819) you can find the name of a retailer and driving directions. In May, Target stores sold the phones, but they don't appear on the list now.
Please note that these phones can ONLY be used in the USA, but if you go every year, they are great value.
Regards,

Hi that sounds like a good idea.
my husband has to go to America once a year with work and always uses his Virgin mobile out there. he just sends me texts to say he has got there ok and a few texts or quick phone call each night and the bill at the end of week has been really cheap (I never call him cos of the costs but can send him free texts).
I have just purchased a new phone from ebay that is unlocked and triband and have just put my Sim into it and it works great and saved me £70.
have a good trip0
