IMO, it is also a geographical problem.
OoP North where I come from, there seems to be a definite relaxed attitude to driving, although I think the pedestrian problem is similar. Down south ( when I have driven down there) I even worry about what some drivers are doing on the road in the first place. It is all so rushed and no care and consideration to other road users.
Wouldn't live in London for a gold clock, as they say.0 -

I don't think it's as simple as north/south divide. I have hardly any issues in my hometown further north, the biggest danger is tourists on the road/pavements but you just give them a wide berth. Everyone seems to be fairly relaxed on the roads and there is minimal cutting up/racing.
Here in Sheffield it is an absolute nightmare. I stopped driving when I moved because everyone was 120% more aggressive and 200% less patient, with triple the number of suicidal pedestrians (excluding tourists!)0 -
I wonder where it starts. It says pedestrians already on the road have priority - is this if they're on the road before you start to turn, or when you indicate, or when you've turned?
I had a group of pedestrians jump back onto the pavement when I was turning. I'd stopped as it was their right of way, but you can't really tell them that. I think a little give and take for all involved.
I'm a pain. I walk across the road even if a car is obviously turning if it hasn't put its indicator on. That's one of my biggest bugbears - people who don't indicate.0 -

If the vehicle is really close, obviously I don't step onto the road but when there vehicle is far away and I step out, I get hooted
I just shout "it's my right of way!"0 -
