Do you have seperate speakers or an internal one?
If seperate speakers, see if they have come loose out of the back of your pc. It's the pink and green cables.0 -
If Foggie's suggestion doesn't work, uninstall & reinstall the sound drivers. G0

It has internal speakers. How do I uninstall and reinstall the sound drivers?0

If you go into Device Manager (assuming it's XP, click here if you need to know how) are there any exclamation signs there? If there are any subentries to do with sound/multimedia/similar right-click on them & choose 'Uninstall' & follow the procedure. Reboot when done, & let Windows reinstall them when prompted on the restart. G0

This maybe obvious but have you gone to control panel and sound and devices and checked that the mute button is un-ticked? also go to check the new updates that you have had for windows and try uninstalling the following update.
msKB933566..
As microsoft has already had similiar problems with this update..0
