Sky BroadBand 12.50 offer NOT CORRECT

HI,


I waited for you to publish the codes for SKY, under your best broadband deal.


Got the code, went via the link, and there is an additional £20.00 charge, one off payment.


The details of the payment are for "line Transfer".


I have an active talktalk line/broadband where the contract finishes tomorrow.


The promotion on MSE states a £20.00 for new line / activation etc... but not simple transfer.


Apparently if it was a BT line I would not have to pay a transfer.


They all use BT lines don't they???


So instead of signing up for £12.50 per month and £6.95 on the first bill for router delivery, I had to pay out £25.00 (£20.00 for this transfer.. and £5.00 as a new customer that will be refunded on the second bill..)


<Must admit I am disappointed. This is my first experience of MSE and I was assuming the offers listed would be accurate and firm. Particularly with the build up for the release of the "5000 Codes" at 1pm today.

This added cost is a big deal for me as I am now unemployed - very disappointed.

    If you are a TalkTalk customer you are on their own equipment and not BT's. So no they don't all use BT lines, not nowadays.

    You have to make sure any offer is applicable to you. Did it not say this clearly in the offer?
  • There was nothing in the details of the offer that would lead me to suspect it would not be applicable to me? If there is a transfer fee of £20.00 to all users other than BT, surely that would be made clear as it would effect the majority vs the minority?

    TT to Sky, asuming both are LLU, requires a new line provision. Not a line transfer. BT to LLU does not.
    LLU to LLU transfers are rarely possible.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    But it's still a cheap deal.

    You can't get anything for free and although prices on the whole are coming down, these companies will only take it another way so as not to hurt their profits.

    If you can't afford the £20 extra then give up something for a couple of weeks or don't take the offer at all.

    You can always complain to MSE as opposed to this users forum .

    But in the same way, they run it and manage it, so in a way, it does represent their views, especially being connected to their site.

    OP, you would be better reporting it to a staff member using the "Contact Us" as it's rare to get any sort of response on the forums from a MSE staff member.

    Hello op,
    I have just found the same problem but i have a BT line. I spoke to the online advisor and they said do the line check but put in that you are not the bill payer and that removes the £20 charge.

    It worked but I did not proceed as it means then lying on the form that I had yet to move into a house I've been in for 14 years!
    It is obviously a glitch on the system.
    I have emailed them for further clarification as the £20 one off charge is ONLY for cable customers and not BT compatible customers (this is clearly stated in the t &c's).
