Selling Argentine Pesos in the UK

Hi All,
I came back from Argentina with quite a few pesos.
Prior to leaving, I phoned HSBC and they said they would buy them back, which both surprised and delighted me.
However, when I went to their counter, they confirmed they were not dealing in Argentinian pesos and refused to buy them back.
Has anybody got any suggestions?
I've tried several travel agencies, Banks, the Post Office and money lending / currency exchange shops, and they have all refused.
The only solution i was able to find was currencybuyback, but at a very disadvantageous rate.
Any advice welcome,
ChL.

Argentine pesos are pretty much worthless outside Argentina - and because of the parallel rate, visitors want to take USD and change to pesos in Argentina, so there's not even much demand from people planning a visit to Argentina.
Your best bet is to try to make direct contact with someone going to Argentina - e.g. there's a Facebook group of Argentines who live in the UK (can't remember the name). You won't get the official exchange rate though - best you can hope for is to sell them at the parallel rate.
The company listed on CurrencyBuyBack (Covent Garden FX) is buying at 21.7 - this compares with a parallel rate of 18.19 and an official rate of 13.57. So that's a 20% spread on the parallel rate - pretty steep, but unless you can find someone to trade with directly it may be your only option. Have you contacted Covent Garden FX to confirm they will actually buy them?Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -

Thomas Exchange in the Strand London (at the Aldwych end) may change them at a not particularly good rate
The Post Office will - sometimes. You need one with a proper BdeC, not any old one0
