Anyone get a better deal out of Three this way ?

If I were to get a SIM from Three on a rolling monthly contract, and use it for a few months and them ring them to cancel, would I get a better deal out of them if I let them talk me into a 12 month contract

They already offer better deals on 12-month contracts than on 1-month.
You can save your and their time by taking a 12-month contract from the start.

E.g. the same airtime costs £12.90/£9.90 or £23/£20 for 12/1 months.

What I'm getting at is whether they'd offer me a discount off the standard 12 month contract prices ?

The system that most networks use works on your last 6 months of spend, so I doubt anything less than that would generate you a deal.

I doubt it. I was with them for 3-4 yrs.my contract ran out and was on 1 month rolling contract for 1.5yrs and said I would sign upto another 2 yr contract aslong as they would waver the £20 upfront for handset even though there was better deals out there with other providers. They wouldn't budge so I said seeya

I would (naively) like to think that offers were for all customers equally, whether they ring up ranting, threaten to leave, or are loyal and never ask for anything.

In reality this doesnt seem to be the case, and it fosters consumers getting ever more aggressive!!
