O/S Daily Thursday 8th May 2014

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Usual dash so a bit of a hi and fly visit.

DD is back at doctors today. No appointment for counselling yet and she is like a zombie on her drugs, thought the doctor did say they would take at least a couple of weeks to settle down. Her so called supportive friend seems to have done a runner and there is still no financial support for her and GDD

That was not meant to be a rant but it's really getting to me.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning All

TTFTM - So hard watching your children suffer, I hope your DD gets the help she needs soon.
JackieO - Hope the cold improves soon.

Managed to get all the kitchen cupboards cleaned yesterday, the kitchen smells nice and clean! Clouds and blue skies today, yesterday was nice in between the heavy showers! Not a whole load of washing to do so will leave that till later. DW chugging away.

Work then hospice shift today, must pack a bag tonight for the weekend away, really looking forward to it.

Have a good day, take care. XX

    ¡Hola! Buenas D!as

    Congratulations to your DD HH
((Hugs)) for you and for your DD TTFTM
    Camelot Dirty Weekend???? ;):D

:hello: go our newbies, welcome along, as you can see we all ramble a little at times:o

 all lurkers and those MIA.

No problems getting washing dry here, so I really should put a load on:o
We brought some new taps for the washbasins out here, and are switching the downstairs bathroom sink to a Vanity Unit which we got out here, but had to wait until DH fetched suitable tools from home. Does everything go to plan, don't be daft, never does. DH decided to start on the taps upstairs, smaller job, Ah!, first of all didn't bring two new wastes, as I thought we were using existing upstairs, seems stay for the plug was on the tap, so new click pop up waste needed for that too. Also when removing wash basin from marble top the narrow piece at the back has a crack both sides of a six inch piece  d
Decided that could be repaired with mastic as the sink covered all but 1/2" of it, so I was despatch to Leroy Merlin (B&Q out here) to get these. All that sorted new tap in place on the wash basin, but the newly acquired waste different size to original, need new piece for the waste water, back to LM this time with DH, think we have it fixed, Oh No! Goes to attached the pipe tails (the flexible but from the tap to the pipe work) they are a different size, the original ones are too small for the tap, the ones on the tap are too small to connect to the existing fitting. You would think this is old, but this place is only 12 years old! Off out again today to get this fixed, if we can.

In between I have done a Lidl shop to get fresh stuff, and have been trying to sort community paperwork, and had a meeting with the Administrator, and trying to understand Spanish accounting!!! Today have a meeting with the gas company representative who are trying to get mains gas into the homes out here, there is supposed to be offers as an incentive, but will see.

Ended up with a very late tea/dinner, which ended up as Ham Salad with a few Patas Bravas cooked in the oven. I am tempted to start low Carbing again, just need to get my head in gear.

    Right breakfast time, yogurt porridge.

((Hugs)), spoons, etc., to those who'd like them, grab a handful. Take care everyone. DG

M.., they arrived a short time ago, Marla arrived at 2:18 & weighs 4lb 15, Edward arrived at 2:42 & weighs 4lb 13, natural delivery, mum & Babies doing well.

What lovely news to read first thing in the morning - congrats all round.

Bright and sunny and cold where I am so put both raincoat and bodywarmer in the car just to be prepared. :)

Busy morning doing some assessing of uni students and then back to my desk full of papers. When I started this new job last year I was told that they were a paperless office... well sometimes you can't see some people for piles of paper.

Had a good day yesterday when I had a meeting across in Fife - drove the motorway there and then meandered my way home through all the back roads, small villages and towns. Found it most delightful, especially as I'm usually in a mad rush to get or get back from somewhere.

NSD for me, though I spent a load online last night as we needed some new pillows for the spare bed and new towelling. My mega declutter before moving house is coming back to bite me now.

Hope everyone is keeping their heads above water.

    Morning everyone

Hester - Congratulations on the arrival of the twins x

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, very cloudy and overcast, forecast is for rain later.

DH up and getting ready for work.

Dinner last night was disjointed, DS2 and myself ate at normal time, and had the pork loins, mash, veg and gravy. DH and DS1 went straight from work to help my dad with a job, so were late home and didn’t want a big meal, so they had egg, bacon, mash and beans. Tonight will be chicken and bacon kievs, chips and beans for the menfolk, mushroom omelette and salad for me.

Work wasn’t as busy yesterday so gave us time to catch our breath, but only worked until lunchtime, then home to do the normal chores. Have lots to do today, so will crack on and get as much done as possible. Need to pack.

    Keep safe and well x

Just popped back to say a big CONGRATULATIONS HH! Love the names, you will be on a high today.

Took DD to the station and could smell gas outside so the men are busy outside looking for the leak. The chap said it's not serious and definitely coming from the drain outside so we are safe inside! Have to say they arrived within 45 mins of me phoning.

    Take care. XX
