I have £16,000 that I wish to invest please advice me how and where to do this wisely to maximise the return:j

Nobody can give you any advice on the internet since advice is a regulated, and chargeable, activity. You can get suggestions - but only if you provide a lot more detail, such as how long you wish to invest for, what your risk tolerance is, how much you have in your cash emergency fund, whether you got any debts (mortgage, loans, credit cards, overdrafts etc) and how much you owe with what terms, how old you are, what your pension provisions are .......

They aren't the cheapest and won't maximise your return but if you have no idea (which I assume based on asking your question) then their site might be easy for you to use.

You can only put £11880 into an ISA until July when it goes up to £15k. Still down to you to decide what to put in it though.
