I think from over 50 years of shopping I have tried virtually all of the different SM range of basic or value stuff and think that Sainsbobs is very hard to beat as another poster said thier tea bags are really good and for 30p a brilliant buy, especially for a tea pot like myself. Their value biscuit range are hard to beat as well.I cook from scratch most things and at the end of the day a plate of porridge or pasta or rice are pretty basic things anyway.Sainsbobs mueseli is very nice although it has gone up quite a bit recently as there seems to be a bit of a bad harvest last year and most cereals and pulses have risen in price. I agree ,to me 'junk food' is the ready-meals high fat sugar filled stuff not the tasty home baked stuff I eat.I make my own soups as the tinned stuff is horrible. But tomato's,baked beans etc seem to be fine0

We love smartprice cornflakes they are different but better than the branded ones. I also like tesco everyday value coleslaw and morrisons basics ice cream better than more expensive ones as they are far less creamy which suits my tastes better.0

You mean the massive 27p white bags? I don't like to eat them as a bowl of cereal as I find them tasteless, but mix it with SP milk chocolate and you have yourself a cheap and tasty packed lunch snack"Always fulfil your needs, only fulfil your wants when your needs are no longer a concern" - citricsquid0 -

They are 750g white bags.0 -
Sainsburys basics tin rice pudding. 15p per tin, less sugar and calories than the best brands and less cals than ambrosia light rice pudding. Tried them all and compared all the labels and my conclusion is you can't beat sainsburys basics, what a bargain!
Don't eat it very often though, trying to cut the carbs and find it impossible not to demolish the whole tin
Eta: the price does tend to fluctuate though, I usually wait until its 12p / tin.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

We really like the Tesco Everyday Value Muesli. Its coarsely milled oats give it a good chewing quality - much better than any powdery swiss-style muesli. We do add extra raisins to it though. (Expensive crunchy knobbly-type mueslis are packed full of sugar and fat, so not at all healthy).
Sainsburys version of All-Bran is just like the 'real' thing and much cheaper. Tesco used to do a version too, but I can't find it nowadays.0 -
Basics baked beans. I prefer to Heinz now, Heinz are very sweet.
Also jaffa cakes. I prefer basics to proper brand. The basics aren't as dense and it makes them better.0 -
I agree heinz beans are horribly sweet! prefer the cheaper varieties.
I like lidls cereals and sliced cheese too.Total Debt in Feb 2015 - £6,052 | DEBT FREE 26/05/2017Swagbucks £200 Valued Opinions £100Dave Ramsey Baby Step 2 | Mr Money Mustache Addict0
