    Hi Sheps
My understanding is that it can cause issues for the conveyancing process if/when you go to sell the property.
I can email you a copy of my completed form if it will help. The property on mine was also on Sasines register.

If you are able to post a copy of the property description used (anonymised), this might be helpful to others.
  • Where on the Will can you write the docket. I've written it by hand on a blank bit of paper to see how it would fit on the first page of the will. I can't get it to fit. Can I write it to the cover sheet or on the last page where there is more room?

There wasn't much room on my will either.  But AFAIK*, it's supposed to be on the front page of the will, at the top.  I just wrote small and squashed it in.  Having said that, mine hasn't been accepted yet. Two weeks after sending it in, I've heard nothing.  I don't understand why it has to be made so difficult.  *Hopefully @buddy9 or someone else who's helpful will be along to confirm or correct.

edit: Feefmac, thank you for that helpful pic.

Not sure if this helps, but here's the image of my father's first page of his will
This was accepted by Airdrie Sheriff Court.

I sent my application to the Sheriff's Court on 28th June and got a call today from them, asking for payment!  So relieved it wasn't bounced. I couldn't have done it without this thread and especially the help from @buddy9 , so thank you to him and everyone else on this thread (and the other one on this subject).
  • Hi everyone, I have studied the 36 pages and put my form together but I just need re-assurance on a couple of things if that is OK .
I'm the Executor for my Mother's will and this C1 form has stressed me out considerably at a time when I'm most vulnerable. There's been a falling out with the Solicitor over costs so I'm going it alone with this page being my only support.  We won't be near IHT threshhold.

    1.  My mother's address and my address are not up-to-date in the Will.
My wording for 'That I am'
<me as named in will>, daughter and Executor Nominate of the late (mother as named in will> conform to the Will of the deceased residing sometime at <old address as in will>  and latterly at <new address>, dated 31/03/2009 which is produced herewith, docquetted and signed by me as relative hereto. In said Will, I am described as <me as named in the will> residing sometime at <old address as in will> and now resides at <current address>.

    Is this correct?

My sister is mentioned in case I was incapacitated.  Her address is also incorrect.  As she isn't Executor, do I need to mention this?

    2.  Bank accounts.
I have read conflicting stuff.  Is the sort code and account sufficient?  Do I need the Branch address or is it the Head office address?

    3.  House valuation.
Is the figure enough or do I add who did the valuation, company address and the date of it?  Do I need to include this valuation in with the paperwork?  I had 3 done.  Do I include all 3?

    4.  Continuation sheet
My inventory goes onto an additional sheet.  Question 5 .. that That the inventory (on pages 3 to ) is a full and complete... do I put C2/1 there?

    5.  Heritable and Moveable Estate subtotals
I've seen some people do a subtotal calculation in the column before moving onto Estate in England & Wales.  Is this necessary?

    Thanks!
  • Concerned by box 25 now.  I'm under IHT threshold so that is an excepted estate, so what do I put in here?  Zero or same figure as box 24?

@emilylemon Sorry for your loss, I felt the same way about this form 😭🤯.

I can only tell you what I put on my accepted C1, but I'm not in any way an expert!

    1.  I didn't have to do this so not sure, there's an example on this thread somewhere though and it's not far back, maybe 3 or 4 pages ago?

    2. For the Bank accounts I had ac no. and sort code, type of account ( I used the name that the Bank used, so "Instant Access ISA" or "Investment Funds ISA" or "Reward Current Account").  I used our local branch address for the current account but the Head Office in Edinburgh for one of the ISA's and the other was an Investment ISA that is registered in England, although it's a Scottish bank.  I asked the bank about this and they said to use the English address for the Investment ISA. So that was listed under "Estate in England & Wales" under "Personal Estate".

    3.  I gave the name and town of the estate agent and date of valuation, after the description of the property. You can just use the one agent that gave a middling value.  You don't need to attach proof, but obviously keep any proof you have.

    4.  Again, not sure. I put pages 3 to 4 on mine.  Sorry.

    5. I didn't do a separate sub total for Scotland on mine, but it just so happened that the Scotland items all fitted on the first page so there was a sub total that was carried over onto the next page.  I didn't list a separate figure for Scotland until the Summary at the end.  At the top of the C1 it tells you the order of headings to use and doesn't say you need to sub-total for Scotland.

I hope some (any?) of that is helpful.  Have you downloaded the guidance notes for the C1?  They're somewhat helpful, though by no means comprehensive.  Best of luck with it.

edit: @emilylemon my boxes 24 & 25 were the same figure (IIRC it was the total value minus the liability figure).
