How long do you give someone to pay?

In all my years on ebay I've never had anyone not pay straight away, (don't sell that much). I sold something Saturday and not a peep. I've sent payment details yesterday but still nothing.

How long do you give it and what on earth do I do next?

I usually open a non paying bidder case as soon as I can - after 2 days
If I am in a good mood I will send them a reminder first :)

All mine finish on Sunday am so I send an invoice on about Tuesday if I've heard nothing then a reminder on about Friday. Most people pay or at least contact me by then.
I do know some people do a non-paying bidder as soon as possible but I'm not a business so not in a hurry and understand some folk have delays.

I am a business so I like to be payed fairly quickly, if someone walks out of my shop with goods then they stop others buying those goods.

If I get an email letting me know that there will be a delay with payment then I am happy to wait!
it only takes a moment to contact a seller and let them know!

Ok thanks all. I've messaged them saying it's ready to go, just need payment made.

After 2 days I will message them to ask if they still want the item.

If no word 24 hours later I send another message letting them know that if I haven't received payment or correspondence within 24 hours, then I will need to open a non payment case

And if still nothing, I open the case.

I am far too nice and message them after 7 days. Then 2 days later open a case. It is annoying when people take ages to pay but opening a case on them after 2 days is pretty poor customer service.

Personally I often bid on things on my mobile and it can be a day or two before I can get to the computer to pay.

I just opened a case, I messaged them after two days and no reply although other e bay activity on their account---which is a new one. So now I have opened a non paying buyer case.

I never ask them if they still want the item, what if they say No? likewise I never tell them I am going to open an NPB.

I send a second invoice on about day 3 and open an NPB on day 4, or earlier if my 'time waster' radar goes off.

  • My buyers get a warning 48 hours after the end of the auction, then a further 24 hours before I open a case.

If it's a BIN, it's no problem, as they have to pay instantly :D That's the way I like it.

Oh I do love BIN with immediate payment, it makes running my eBay shop sleazy as I virtually have no auctions at all anymore.
