For the last few weeks iMessages are not getting through to one of my regular contacts. Obviously we are unable to FaceTime as well. It's as if one phone is not recognising the other as an iPhone. It's not related to location and poor signal either, as I can iMessage her husband,

We have each tried deleting the other and putting on as a new contact to no avail.

Each of us is able to iMessage others on our contacts lists, sending and receiving.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Edit to add: looked problem up on Apple support. I think it might stem from my contact. Appreciate those who have read post, but I don't think there is an answer.

Try settings/messages/send and receive. Are your email and mobile numbers ticked?

Can she or her husband send messages to each other through iMessage?

At some time she may have blocked your FaceTime calls and they would need to be unblocked in settings.

Do you mean in my phone or hers?

I think so. She has said that I'm the only one whose iMessages do not get through.

It's very unlikely that she would have done that.

We are getting together tomorrow to try to work it out.

That's really weird. The only thing I can suggest is that make sure your phone number is selected under "You can be reached by FaceTime at." Go to Settings>FaceTime to check this

Is there more than one contact in the address book? For example joebloggs@icloud.com and another for the same person under their mobile number?

We will try that tonight, handsome.

I have got the family email address on both contacts, actually. I'll try removing it from one of them, thanks Buglawton.

The Apple support site says to delete the whole iMessage thread. I came across a message from contact saying
' how weird. My messages to you used to be blue, now they are green' ,

That suggests that the problem is with her phone, not mine, eh?

Both turn Imessage and Facetime off, hold the lock button and home button together till the phone turns off and the apple logo appears, when the phones are back on turn both Imessage and Facetime back on, wait for the activation and try sending a message (you don't have to do this at the same time you can try this on yours first to see if it fixes the problem, if not ask your friend to do the same) - The only other thing to try after that is a full network and settings reset
