How to clear partial toilet blockage

One of our loos is doing the thing where the bowl fills up quite high on flushing, then slowly drains.

We've flushed several times now and it doesn't seem to be clearing itself.

Any tips on the best (free) way to clear it?

The way I do it, fill a bucket with water, when the wc is at its lowest level pour water in as fast as possible.

2nd find yourself some long sleeved rubber gloves.

If you don't want to get your hands right in there, Diy shops to a long spring device which can get right through to any blockage within a few foot and twist to work free... always found that good when wipes had been put down.. do still wear the gloves though...

Use a mop as a plunger, you can also use a hosepipe which is flexible enough to get round the trap then give it a good blast

Second the mop as a plunger !

Are you sure it's the toilet though and not the main sewer that's blocked. When sewers get blocked the line generally takes a while to drain after toilets are flushed.

Arm in black bin bag and round the bend. Have a bucket ready.

Thanks all! I assume the problem is restricted to this loo as we have three upstairs loos, plus this one is above the downstairs loo, and all the others are fine.

    Will try your suggestions. :)

Toilet brush used vigorously as a plunger then chuck it away.

2 litre pop bottle, bottom cut off, with lid on is a brilliant plunger and can be binned. Xxx
