Uktv abroad

For those ex pats who have lost their UK television, have you tried https://www.filmon.com?
Its a live stream of many UK and worldwide channels, in good quality picture, and has the facility to also record programs. It does not require any downloads or dodgy add ons. worth a look if you're missing Eastenders!!

Does this actually work outside the UK?

I have a mobile app. I can see UK programmes while in the UK and US programmes (but not UK programmes) in the US. For a while I could see several local Boston stations while in the UK but no longer.

I would love to see UK programmes while abroad. Am I doing something wrong?

yes it does work! Try it.
I am in Austria and after the BBC signal changed in February, I searched and found this site.
All you have to do is register with it, no cost involved, and you can see most of the terrestrial channels live.
Its brilliant, and apparently is owned by a Greek Billionaire who also owns Coca Cola..
I hope you find the info useful, and pass it on to other ex pats.

There was an interesting article about Alki David mentioning FilmOn in the Daily Telegraph Seven section last week.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/10795301/The-billionaire-Hollywood-loves-to-hate.html

Before I register, have you any advice on:
    - watching UK TV in Switzerland/the USA/South Africa/etc?
    - watching US TV in the UK and elsewhere?

    Thanks.

BTW, David's father was the Greek licensee for Coca-Cola and was a major exporter of Coca-Cola from Greece.

Partly answering my own question, using a virtual VPN on my laptop I can find many US stations including PBS, Spanish and reruns. However, I can't get the networks NBC, ABC and CBS. This seems to be a casualty of legal action against FilmOn by the networks.

I don't take my laptop abroad these days, relying on a wifi-only tablet. Any idea how to change/add VPN settings so that I could see US TV, also UK settings to see UK TV abroad?

    Thanks.

    Thanks, experimenting now. :)

Any idea how to get live US networks such as NBC? I can find websites with links to recordings of certain programmes but not live streaming. Thanks.

The ads are only for the first 8 seconds. i can cope with that, in order to watch Corrie again! i also use the record facility sometimes, and that works very well too.

Interesting article. I have no advice on watching TV. Just..if the channel is showing on filmon, then watch it.
