How can anyone forget that they've used a card for £150 only four days previously?!

Another point being why is someone even using a credit card to withdraw cash.

i wondered that too. i very rarely draw out £150 or more, and i have never withdrawn cash from a creditcard. i would assume that rorylando is now paying interest on the amount withdrawn? was/is there not a better way to access cash?

I guess the same reason people 'forget' to pay their credit card bill one month/for months on end and then claim it's someone else's fault.

What idiot pays their London Congestion Charge with a fraudulent card number over the phone. It has got to be traceable against the registration! Unless anyone knows different?

An idiot that knows that these things are rarely followed up?
An idiot that knows that even if they get caught, probably nothing will happen?
An idiot that knows that if something does happen, it will likely be a caution?
An idiot that knows that if they are prosecuted, they will probably get off?
An idiot that knows that if they are found guilty, they will probably get told to do community service (which they won't do) or a suspended sentence?
An idiot that knows that if they are sent to jail, they'll be let out early - particularly if they wish to rob a bank?

Oh hang on a tick. Who are the idiots?

I had a friend who had his wallet stolen. The thiefs had dominos pizza delivered. We thought they were right idiots, but then of course dominos wouldn't give us the address because of data protection, the bank couldn't care less after the replacement card was sent out, and the police didn't think it worth their time to follow up a simple petty crime.

Reasonable comments if they were in isolation, but in my case the 3 fraudulent entries were for a large amount of money. The amount is not my concern, because I was reimbursed immediately by the credit card company. My point about the person being traceable through the registration number for the car was that it might be the tip of the iceberg and now they have the name of the perpetrator who has finally revealed his true identity.

Note. The credit card company did care after the new card was issued. The fraud department spent a considerable amount of time working through the companies names where I had used the card ordering over the phone because they were certain (the entries show this) that the fraud was carried out over the phone.
