Hi,
I have just checked my online statement for my Halifax Clarity credit card and I can see an entry from Friday which I do not recognise. I have tried Googling the name "Notemachine London GBR" but nothing came up. Does anyone know what this is?

My memory isn't great but I'm 99% sure I didn't use this card on Friday, in which case it may be fraudulent. Should I get in touch with the Halifax? If so what happens next?
Thank you for any help!

Notemachine is usually cash taken out at one of those non-bank located ATM machines.0

Yes, get in touch right away to report it. The worst that can happen is that you'll feel embarrassed if it turns out you DID use the card after all. If it is a fraudulent transaction, you may be liable for any further transactions by not reporting the first one right away.0

Ah yes...I remember now. Turns out I did use it, false alarm. Thank you for jogging my memory!0

I think I'd have remembered if I took £150 out of an ATM within the last few days0 -

Nope, you cannot be held liable for unauthorised transactions (beyond £50 in particular circumstances), whatever the T+Cs say.
Willing to stand corrected if there has been a recent case to the contrary.0 -
How can anyone forget that they've used a card for £150 only four days previously?!"Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0

Agreed, I've had a few moments, where I've thought, I don't remember taking any money out, or what that payment was for.
For me, it's usual a paypal payment where part of it has come out of my paypal balance and the rest from my account. Or when I have bought something cheapish 3 or 4 days before.
Or something like a mobile phone bill, which is the same for 6 or 7 month, then it is £3 or £4 higher, because I've made some out of inclusive calls.0 -

My mobile bill always surprises me, but then it always says "tesco mobile" next to it so at least it's clear. It's the payments that are listed strangely or don't give you an idea what is is that confuse everyone. If my mobile bill said "billing payment company" on my statement I'd probably think it suspicious every month!0 -

Agreed. We are dealing with 3 entries that appeared 2 weeks ago and were all done over the phone. We were away and travelling and were not in a position to check our account online. We noticed it when the statement appeared on the door mat. The card was taken out of circulation and new one issued. Credit card companies send a piece of paper to you with a list of fraudulent transactions and you send it back duly signed agreeing it was not you. If you do not send the list back within a specified amount of time, it is deemed that the card holder made the transactions but had forgotten. This procedure concentrates the mind.
What idiot pays their London Congestion Charge with a fraudulent card number over the phone. It has got to be traceable against the registration! Unless anyone knows different?0
