Positive News Thread

So many people have posted unhappy threads recently, I've decided that, at the risk of being flamed for sounding smug, it is time for one listing good things that have happened recently.

For example, my fella's XW has stopped him seeing their child for nine months, as far as I can see and from he texts he's showed me, purely to hurt him.

We were out a couple of weeks ago and I was horrified to find out that his XW was in the same place as us for a night out with her friends.

It's not been a secret that we're together, but, at the same time, it's not been advertised to her in case she took exception to it. Especially as her stopping contact coincided with our first weeks seeing one another and her best friend seeing us together without our usual crowd of friends. I'd never forgive myself if it turned out to be because of me that she'd stopped contact. In fact, I'd have finished with him straight away if I'd been told for certain that was why it had happened.

He went to speak to her - I legged it outside and hid with the other smokers until they'd finished talking. I had so many cigarettes in the time, I could barely speak afterwards. And I was really twitchy and anxious for the rest of the night in case my being there and obviously with him had made things more entrenched or hostile towards him.

As a result of that conversation, he called the following day and, not only did she answer for the first time, she agreed to let him see their child this weekend. I was really pleased for him - I've seen him in a complete state over it many times.

To my surprise, once he'd had both children for a few hours, he invited me down to meet them - and his eldest is just as sweet, smart and lovely as both him and the little one. And, rather than being very closed off, fella was obviously pleased to see me, still held my hand and gave me one of his huge hugs and kisses as usual. As I left, he thanked me for coming with no notice/warning, cuddled me and said 'I thought it was about time you met - I knew you'd be great, like you are with LO'.

What I'm happy about is that, not only did he get to see his eldest for the first time in so long, it was really relaxed and happy for all of them - and he wanted me to share it with him.

The moral of the story is to keep on trying. He could have given up. I know he'd thought about it many times, it was clear that his XW never wanted to hear from him again, saying the child didnt want to know him, but I had made it very clear to him that I thought it was better to keep trying and be ignored or insulted - and that I'd support and be there for him for however long it took.

So I'm happy. Really happy, as I saw the broadest, most generous grin on his face since the first day he bounced up onstage and said hello to me.

There must be other people who have had lovely weekends, good news or other good things happen.

I think it would be nice to share some of them here.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

My dog makes me smile every day by bringing her rope toy and sitting next to me, bobbing her head saying "play with me". She looks so cute when she does it, I can't help but smile :)

I have my first day off today after working 9 in a row (we don't get bank holidays), other half did all the house work yesterday, dog is away to granny's for a long walk with her doggy cousins and all I need to do is chill with my sister. Oh and there's cake in the fridge.

I'm pretty positive anyway, but I love this poem, which sums up that even when it is all going a*se up, all these things pass, with a little positivity:

"One song can spark a moment,
One flower can wake the dream.

One tree can start a forest,
    One bird can herald spring.

    One smile begins a friendship,
    One handclasp lifts a soul.

One star can guide a ship at sea,
One word can frame the goal.

One vote can change a nation,
    One sunbeam lights a room.

    One candle wipes out darkness,
    One laugh will conquer gloom.

One step must start each journey,
One word must start each prayer.

One hope will raise our spirits,
One touch can show you care.

One voice can speak with wisdom,
One heart can know what's true.

One life can make the difference,

You see, It's Up to You!"

Nice to have a positive thread as well. :)

You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)

Fantastic news on the kids that's made me really happy for you.

My good news is that I've been offered two jobs I went for last week. Still stuck on which one to go for one less money and hours than the other but there's more chance for promotion.

I would of been happier being offered just the one job lol

We chopped down a dead tree on Saturday that I was obsessing about as I loved the privacy it provided but it was obvious it was dead; but now it's gone it makes the garden a lot brighter. I bought my summer flowers ready to pot up yesterday; I love to see the garden in full bloom and today we are off to see our DD perform on stage as part of a festival. She was so excited this morning bless her. So not huge things but things that lift the soul.

My gardening lads cut my hedge and grass and tidied up my borders. I'm a happy bunny and no longer have to hang my head in shame.

I was able to sit outside and read. It's unusual to have nice enough weather for it so early, and all through last year I was too scared because of the drug dealers living next door.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

    I've been Money Tipped!
My boyfriend and I hit our original £30,000 bonafide savings target last week.

We can't get a mortgage at the moment because I am on a fixed term contract (very common for the industry!). But onwards and upwards!
