Dishwasher shape problem - no room for pipe at back - UPDATE

We used to have an old Candy dishwasher, and when we built our kitchen (a few years ago) the plumbing etc. was fitted around this. There is a washing machine waste pipe running along the bottom of the wall behind the dishwasher. The Candy had a gap at the bottom which was more than enough to accommodate the pipe.
Now we've finally had to buy a new dishwasher, but we've discovered that this has a flat back all the way down, so no space for the wastepipe to run. This means that the dishwasher sticks out by about 1.5 inches proud of all the other units, which look bad and is also in the way.
So I have 2 questions:
1. Does anyone have any bright ideas about how to fix the problem - preferably one which doesn't involve re-plumbing the whole kitchen?
or failing that...
2. Does anyone know any dishwasher makes that have a gap at the bottom which will accommodate a 1.5 inch wastepipe?
Any helpful suggestions gratefully accepted!

Suggest that you go looking for a new machine armed with a tape measure and check out what you are looking for from the stock available.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

That's a very good point, I will check! I think it may be just brick as the kitchen was originally built out as an extension, but I guess even then it may be possible to create a pipe-shaped indentation along the wall. This may be an option.
I feel a bit daft for assuming that washing machines are all pretty standard at the back, it never occurred to me to check this when buying a new one- doh!0 -
Alter the pipe work??
Sounds like you have a standpipe trap behind the appliance why not alter and fit a WM2 washing machine trap or similar to your kitchen sink??Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
We had a similar problem when we changed the washing machine. We were able to channel the wall (plaster board) and move the pipe back.0

All that I've fitted recently have a 'gap' at the bottom - so yours must be the unusual one! What brand/model is it?

Not, it's just a washing machine waste pipe which is 1.5 inches in diameter and runs all the way along the bottom of the wall behind the dishwasher and then behind the sink unit, where it exits through the wall into the outside drain.
Does that make more sense?0 -
I've discovered that we can't work it into the wall behind, because it's a brick cavity wall.
I've also just been told by my OH that the offending pipe is actually not running along the bottom of the wall but about 3 inches up from the bottom - so the dishwasher would need a recess of 5 inches at the back.
My OH is not a happy bunny at the moment, as he is thinking that he will have to do some serious re-plumbing work... Either that or a new dishwasher.0 -
Just downloaded a manual for a random beko DW - it leaves a 90mm 'gap' for service pipes - can your existing waste be lowered a few MM ??
