great pics sylv/wingo :j
yes sylv, i fill the bird feeders every day,
spring, summer, autumn & winter,
sometimes twice a day especially when the mums
are feeding the babies,
it's lovely to watch them teaching the babies to fly to the feeders
& teaching them to learn to feed as well :j
we had an upsetting incident the other morning when one of the younger magpies,
which I've been watching the family grow since they first came out the nest, was hopping about near the hedge where the
wildlife part is & one of the cats pounced & got him,
could hear him screeching & all of a sudden all the magpies
came to help (looked like a scene from the film the birds
the magpies all chased the cat off but it was too late & the
young one died, watched his mum keep going back to him &
calling him & sadly she kept going back,
so we went out & disposed of the young one as it was
upsetting seeing her keep going back to him:(
since we've been looking after them when we first moved here
now we have a large variety of lots of diff birds that never visited before :j
even had a couple of woodpeckers :j
squidgees are doing fine,
i put out berries & nuts for them every other day as they
tend to bury the food & then go
back to it,
& the hedgehog gets a few treats every other night
along with the foxes
hope everything goes well for the refurb,
will be lovely for you when it's all done :A
SIL's nearly always here wingo
often joke i should charge her rent :D
though she does spend more time with DH than me as
they love yakking on about when they were young
have fun at gymnastics :Aplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Oh what a shame about the baby magpie firefly. Poor mother bird keep coming back to look at him. It must be lovely watching them. My Sister loves her garden birds as well and spends loads on their food. It's good to have an interest as well as chomping. We have a chicken curry on for tea. Had a really good day at packing but still loads more to do. It's just like moving house.BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO POST THE COMPETITIONS0

thanks sylv, it's lovely your sis enjoys them as well,
they give hours of fun & pleasure watching their antics :j
enjoy your curry :j
we're having cheese & broccoli escalopes with salad
for dinner later, might even have a chilled white with it
for a treat as it's turning into another warm evening :j
great you've had a good day packing stuff up,
& hope all goes smoothly for the rest, please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Thanks firefly, love the pic too. Yes Sis loves her birds and spends loads on them. I think they have a hard time when Lottie and Sukie stay as they chase them. Sis is having the dogs while the refurb is going on so that will help. Your tea sounds lovely.BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO POST THE COMPETITIONS0

that's great of sis sylv to have both the dogs while refurbs going on, less stressful for them
lol @ them chasing the birds
we get that when we look after others dogs though some of them chase the cats more :rotfl:naughty!!!please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Aw that's so sad fire**fly about the baby magpie
You did right disposing of it, I would have had to do the same. I've always liked magpies since when I lived with mam & dad and they used to sit by my window and try and pinch my jewellery! It was funny watching them but they did manage to pinch a silver watch (not real silver though!). It dropped it in our garden then they fought each other to pick it up!
It's lovely of your sis to have the dogs SylviaI imagine they would be scared with all the commotion!
I took girls to beach today as it got out nice. I watched some people (around middle aged) who had been sat on steps on beach having ice-creams etc and just threw the rubbish on floor! The beach has only just been cleaned up and modernised and they were only yards from a bin! Gets me so annoyed when this happens!Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0 -
Glad you had a nice time at the beach Wingo. It's discussing the way peepe through rubbish around, there really is no excuse for it.
Back down as couldn't sleep.
Night night all.BIG THANKS TO ALL WHO POST THE COMPETITIONS0 -
lol, yes the magpies are right characters wingo
they scrap it out with each other & are always 'pinching' stuff,
i sometimes feel sorry for the squirells as they work hard to bury thier nuts then the magpies fly down & peck them out to nick off with them :rotfl::eek: cheeky so & so's
lovely you got to the beach with the girls today,
that's bad about the middle aged throwing the rubbish
they should know better
night sylv, hope you can settle & get some sleep xplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
