Highview parking ticket

I was in a relatively large Tescos in Scotland a few weeks ago, and recently received a fine from highview parking for £70 stating that I overstayed my welcome by 40 minutes. Apparently 3 hr maximum clearly signposted in car park. I have read previous threads about ignoring, but is this the same for Scotland? I will be applying for a mortgage soon, and so far have a very good credit rating. I don't want it affected. I have a receipt for the date/time proving I was a customer on that day. What should I do???

Welcome to MSE forums. You appear to have read OLD threads about ignoring but in England Wales we don't do that now - yes it's different in Scotland as the old ignore advice still applies.
This is covered in the NEWBIES thread - please read the sticky thread (currently second from top) so go back to where you started:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
And then to find other threads like yours, use the heading above the threads on page one called 'search this forum' (next to forum tools) and put in 'Scotland' as your keyword.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:
Home»Motoring»Parking Tickets Fines & Parking - read the NEWBIES THREAD0 -
Wait it out. Under no circumstances contact Tesco or Highview. You will receive a series of 5 or 6 letters including some rubbish from supposed debt collectors each one threatening even more dire consequences if you do not capitulate. Ignore. Then the letters will stop after around 4 months. The last one may offer a reduction in fees in an attempt to smoke you out. Incidently the "fine" is so unenforceable i suggest you continue to park at that car park as and when you see fit, irrespective of any time limit. just sit tight and do nothing - that's the important thing here in Scotland.0
