learner driver question

  • Before my daughter started driving her own car in May of this year I approached the world of learner insurance with some trepidation. I got various quotes and during this came across Collingwood. I liked the concept of a short term policy that could be cancelled upon passing the test. At the time of arranging the policy I was told that if I cancelled mid-way through one of the monthly plans I would receive a refund for the balance of that month. In all honesty, I didn’t expect that to happen but today (30th July and after cancelling the policy on 28th July) I received £42 of the £54 recently paid. My only sadness is that I have just had to fork out £1,300 on non-learner insurance ! My daughter is 17 and the insured vehicle was a Ford Ka (1.3).

Have you put yourself on as a named driver? That can make a big difference.
