OK, if the charger for the dash cam goes into the cigarette lighter socket, where does the charger for the sat nav go?forgotmyname wrote: »Yes. Cut the lighter plug off and wire direct to a fused supply.I'm hopeless with technology, in addition, I suffer with MH issues, what may appear simple, I struggle with, may I ask, please be patient, thank you0 -

To the same fused supply if you want to. Or another fused supply.
Avoid the cheap socket doublers similar to teh ones posted above. Decent ones are OK.
But ive seen cheap ones with wiring thats just asking to set fire to your car or kill your device.
Buy decent ones from a trusted source.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
It wouldn't be too hard to wire it in permanently, with it controlled via your ignition. However this depends on whether you cig socket is constant live. If it is, you'll probably need to take a feed from the back of your radio or a relay from an ignition live.0

Others have a single usb socket or a mini usb plug0 -
I rigged up a super cheap system (under £5) and the quality is brilliant as it's using my mobile - HTC one. Decided the in car ones were too much off a faff.
I have an official car windscreen holder from HTC which attaches in the lower right of the screen, it has a fixed power wire which I tuck behind the dash, under the gearbox footwell and through to the 12v power supply in the arm rest. Takes a second to put my phone in.
I use an app called AutoGuard, which is free or for £2.50 can be upgraded to do background recording etc. There are a ton of settings on record length, auto collision detector, overwrite protection etc. Hope this helps!
The ease is entirely dependant on the quality of the car phone holder0 -
Until I saw your post, I'd have been tempted to buy the one posted, do you have any recommendations?forgotmyname wrote: »Avoid the cheap socket doublers similar to teh ones posted above. Decent ones are OK.

Do these only work with the car is on?
Are there any that run on battery so that you can monitor when car is parked?
Do they get nicked if left on show?"fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -

They can do. Yes, or you can wire it into a permanent live, they don't use too much juice. I've left mine on by accident for 8 hours before. Where do you live? I live in quite a rough area and nobody has nicked it yet. It's a dash camera, not a briefcase full of cash
