So much for immigrants contributing to their new country........

sick leave after sick leave and the grasping attitude of; 'Where can I get compensation from?'

    Since the OP posted this

    - can I claim any sort of compensation in the UK? (as I am still employed, therefore insured)
    And didn't actually ask this
'Where can I get compensation from?'

perhaps the OP, presumably having been paying National Insurance Contributions, is under the impression that he/she is insured for illness and injury and is not actually au fait with what National Insurance Contributions are taken from wages for?

My understanding is the WTR allow employees to go on holiday when on sick leave.

You still have to comply with the contractual requirements for booking holidays and letting your employer know you are taking holidays.

Mainly because of crutches.I can't use my leg at all, also I will need another operation to remove the screws. After that I can't use the leg as well. And my job is physically demanding and involves mainly walking, lifting etc

This doesn't stop you doing other jobs, though.

Thanks for all the info and opinions everyone!
  • As far as I am aware you are not allowed to claim SSP if you go on holiday outside the EU.

Isn't that if you want to take it as paid holiday?

Why you were off sick will probably matter. Can you tell us briefly why - eg. physical ailments, depression etc?
