Broken leg whilst on sick leave

in January you had no job, no income and were just about to complete a thesis. So how come you now state you have been employed for 5 years and signed off sick from January??weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0

Hi there,
Myself and my partner (he's working 30hrs/week) claim Tax Credits as a couple. Currently I'm a Phd student and about to submit my thesis within next 2 weeks. According to my Uni I will lose my student status as soon as I submit my thesis, even though I won't graduate by May/June. I have no income (no grants, student loans etc), we both live off my partner's wages and some Tax Credits. Now:should we, after I submit my thesis, notify HMRC that I'm not a student any longer? Unless, according to HMRC I'm a student until I actually get my degree in May/June? Or: will I be considered as an unemployed and will have to claim Jobseekers Allowance instead of Tax Credits?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Me, I guess.Who was to blame for the accident?
Just asked. To be honest your post is confusing.
Why do you think you would get redundancy money if you are fired? They are two different things.
Whether your employer accepts the sick notes probably depends on your contract. I know my employer would not be impressed by the fact that you have been off work for a few months but suddenly appear well enough to travel abroad?? The fact that you were visiting your Partner is irrelevant.
Visit your GP and you can be given a fit note for the broken leg.
Not sure why you think you should be entitled to compensation. For what?

Sorry about this. It was about my partner, just posted this on his behalf as he is not registered here.0 -
Uh oh.
Whilst on sick leave you still accumulate holiday, but if you intend to go away, you need to notify your employer and take the holiday from your paid entitlement.
As you didn't do this, then you have now landed yourself in a situation which could end up with you being fired.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
you weren't registered either. So its strange you registered as you and then posted pretending to be someone else. Very confusingweight loss target 23lbs/49lb0

ok, I'm not sure why it's such a big deal. English is not my first language and it was just easier for me to write it this way. does it really matter? anyway, I apologize for confusion0 -
Why were you off sick?0

Sometimes a patient will be advised to take a holiday if its felt it will improve their condition (long term depression etc). However, this would usually be discussed by the employee with the employer, and if necessary a doctor's letter obtained to prove they aren't pulling a fast one.
The OP seems to have backed himself into a corner here though.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0
