Ending Orange contract

I need to call Orange/EE for a PAC code. My contract minimum term ended on 30th April and my next statement date is 8th May. I realise I have to give 30 days notice.
Does it make any difference when I ring them?
I know the PAC code only lasts 30 days but do I need to cancel on the statement date to avoid further charges?
Sorry for all the lame questions I just don't want to fall foul of their tricks.

In this case its not a issue, You call for a PAC code and then when you use it (or rat the date the network applies it,) you have to pay 30 days fee in lieu of notice.
You cannot cancel and ask for a PAC Code, you have to either cancel OR ask for a PAC Code and remember if you get a PAC Code and choose not to use it then your contract will continue.
If you call to Cancel and then ask for the PAC Code that overrides and nullifies the cancellation request
To get no further fees over the minimum term you need to have called, and used the PAC Code 30 days before the contract minimum term ends, so you pay 30 days notice for using the PAC Code, which is unfortunately now past. That said you probably already paid a month line rental in advance so you may have nothing to pay (but then get no refund if you follow my logic)0 -
It's simpler to have the contract cancelled at the last day of the billing month, but generally, it's not necessary.sammyjammy wrote: »... do I need to cancel on the statement date to avoid further charges?
Request the PAC and use it at any day while it lasts (don't leave it to the last 2-3 days), and you will be charged for the 30 days regardless. A part of this amount was normally paid in advance when you paid your last bill.0 -
Thanks both. I always intended on moving at the end of my contract but procrastenated somewhat due to my home phone and Broadband being with Orange too. Finally decided to move both.
I realise I'll have to pay for the 30 days notice but was concerned as I've heard of people being charge a months line rental along with the remainder of charges over and above the contracted amount. This would be nil for me so I guess its easy enough to query and get refunded - not that anything is easy with Orange."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0
