Hi pixnmix, hope you don't mind me giving my thoughts! Have you considered slimming world? I do slimming world and I lost 4 stone last year to get to my target weight and I've kept it off since November. It's really easy to follow and you don't ever feel deprived. It's £5/week but then it is free once you get to target
might be worth a look if you find yourself struggling
feel free to contact me if you want more info or if you want to see my before and after

Hi Kitty, Course I don't mind your input
I thought about doing a diet plan like slimming world but decided against it. I didn't realise it was so reasonably priced though! But, now i'm getting the hang of the myfitnesspal app i'm going to carry on with it for now.
My daughter is going to come running with me after work tomorrow and a colleague in work, who is a regular runner, advised me today to do a circuit of my village and do the lampost trick...(no, not one that the local dogs do lol) ... run from post 1 to 2, walk from 2 to 3, run from 3 to 4 and so on. Then gradually to more running and less walking as my stamina builds up. And not to do more than twice a week for a few weeks. Sounds good but i'm really not looking forward to it lol
Going to weigh myself on Thursday this week, then every last Thursday of the month I plan to chart my progress. If i've put on weight I'm not too worried as it is likely to be muscle with running (if I stick to that). But i'll post on here if I start noticing any toning up. Ok..off to chart my calories since lunchtime on the app.

Arghhh.. I'm still 64kg!! Not happy with that, but apart from a few blips with the calories, I'm eating healthily now. Breakfast every day, mixed salad with beans or egg or meat (or all 3) every work day and have done 2 runs to date. Ok, they weren't long runs..5 minutes broken into 1 minute burts and walking in between but it's a start. The second run felt a bit easier than the first and I'm going again tomorrow night. Aiming for 2-3 runs a week and plan to increase the run distance and decrease the walking intervals.
That's about it for now. Bit sad about the weight but hopefully the running will start toning a bit soon.0 -
The problem may be: you don't really have much weight to lose. When you read of people losing huge amounts it's because they had a huge amount to lose in the first place. 64 kg is really not that bad for your height. When you get closer to your ideal weight it's much harder.
I disagree with many people here in that I don't have half-fat, light this and that - the problem is the sugar. Although milk has had fat reduced it still has the same amount of lactose (milk sugar). Low-fat yogurt has sugar added.
About muesli, I believe that Jordans do a no-sugar-added version. The muesli we buy is from a farm shop made by Shire Foods.Ær ic wisdom funde, ær wearð ic eald.
Before I found wisdom, I became old.0 -
Hi
The NHS have something called couch to 5k which is a running programme that you can download onto an mp3 player and listen to as you're out running. It helps you build up over a number of weeks.

Hi Margaretclare and Jen. Thanks both of you for posting.
Yes Margaretclare, I don't have a lot to lose compared to some but I do need to lose a bit and tone up loadsPlodding on
I have a mahoosive lot of muesli in my cupboard but i might well try the Jordan's brand when i'm running out, although I like my Alpen tbh.
Jen, thank you for the tip. I have recently downloaded an exercise app that seems to be working well for me so i'll stick with it for now, but might download the one you suggested too to try.
Still running...still calorie watching..and my colleagues have started noticing the differenceGetting there XX

One thing to note as well, is that muscle weighs more than fat (as you have already mentioned) so what I have done is take measurements (there's a section for that in myfitnesspal) and track my progress that way. I have lost no weight at all, but have lost inches off my thighs, hips and waist. No more goo hoarding!

Argghhh!! I've lapsed a bit since I went to a family wedding abroad this month. Was away for 6 days and we ate and drank loads. I'm back counting calories again and work mates, daughter and partner all say I look trimmer, but I don't see it myself.
As I'm not home until Wednesday now I'm going for my first run in nearly 3 weeks after work then. It's going to be like starting again, but it's my own fault!
As Pirateyqueen suggests, I'm going to take some measurements of myself ... waist, thighs etc and post em on here. With 4 weeks before the "big day" I probably won't see much difference but every little helps i guess0 -

It doesnt. Its denser than fat, but a pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat. Someone who works out a lot at the same weight than someone who doesnt might have a completely different body shape and look better, but muscle doesn't weigh more than fat.0 -
I took up running a few months ago cause I decided to do Race 4 Life - you can get something like the couch to 2k running app for your phone (which is completely free) if you've not done anything like that for a while (the last time I went running was during PE lessons at school!) and obvs with running you don't have to pay for a gym membership! Admittedly I was quite embarrassed to run in public first of all but i just put a bit of music on and you don't really think about it after that. The only thing I've really paid for is some hi vis vests but i got those quite cheap online from Sports Direct and some proper running shoes but again I got those cheap online. I've noticed a definite weight loss from my thighs, stomach and tops of my arms, plus it forces you to drink plenty of water which helps get rid of muffin tops!
I make sure I drink at least 2 litres a day now which is so much easier if you just carry a water bottle in your bag.
I've also got some detox tea from Skinny Boo which I've only recently started but I definitely feel like I've got more energy and don't get bloated after eating as much as I did before!
To be honest, I've seen much better results from this than I have with any specific diet (tried WW, Slimfast, Slimming World!) so will definitely keep it up. I try not to weigh myself too often cause I know I'll get hung up on it but I've dropped a dress size so far!
Hope this helps!0
