I am working out the various toolbar functions, but am still stumped by the code function.

Could you explain what it is, please?

Code refers to programming code or similar of any type. Or anything else that you want to post in a format where the forum does not alter spacing or formatting of the original.

Probably only of limited use on this site, but it's one of the standard formatting options the software this forum runs on comes with, so it is there all the same.

For an ordinary user the main advantage is that it suppresses removing extra spaces in a piece of text.

IMO it's not bad when limited to basketball only.

Without the CODE tags it's impossible to arrange the figures in columns as all extra spaces get removed:
