Halifax Cashback Extras - Beware (and does this apply to Lloyds too?)

After activating the Morrisons Cashback offer through the Cashback Extras link on my Halifax home banking, (one has to activate the offer or no cashback), I expected to get 5% cashback on my transactions at Morrisons when I paid with my Halifax debit card. After all it said the offer expired in a few weeks. Not so. What wasn't obvious was that it was one shot deal, i.e. you get the 5% cashback on the first spend which then nullifies the cashback offer and you don't get cashback on subsequent transactions paid for with your card.
It certainly wasn't obvious to me when I clicked to activate the offer that it only applied to one transaction. It was only when I went to check it on the account that I saw the restriction.
I haven't used any of the other offers so I don't know if they will all be one-shot offers, but it's worth being aware of this so you can maximise the cashback.
If you have more than one account and card I suppose you would get the offer once in each account.
I know Lloyds have a similar scheme about which there is a thread on here, but I haven't used the Lloyds offer. I'm guessing since it's the same group it might be the same?

I've had numerous different Morrisons offers.

The icon you click to activate the offer has been clear on all occasions that it is either for first use with an expiry date or for any use prior to an expiry date.

There is a very simple trick to avoid disappointment: don't suppose what the rules might be. You could, and you do, suppose wrong in this case. Instead, read the terms and conditions.

I never guessed it would be any different even without reading the small print.

It's still a good deal especially on a large family shop; particularly if your Halifax Mastercard also pays an additional 2% on supermarket/fuel shopping as standard (ie. 7% saving overall).

I'm a convert to Morrisons, defected from Sainsburys, even without these discounts my weekly shop seems to be 25% cheaper.

on mine it says "Earn 10% Cashback at Morrisons on all your purchases until 18/05/2014, maximum total reward £10. Don't miss our fantastic Pick of the Street deals available now at Market Street."

I've already used my halifax debit card several times this week and received cash back on each occasion.

I am aware some retailors are one time use like Play.com.

I've had morrisons a few times as well, so chances are it will keep popping up for you. Cash back is a bonus, try not to feel too cheated!

The offers vary customer to customer and month to month, always best read the offer carefully to check what your offer is.

Mine quite clearly says 5% cash back on your next purchase from Morrisons...

I think the T&Cs say that if you spend more than once in a day then the highest value purchase counts, but it's only one spend that is eligible.

A good tip with the Morrisons ones is to get cashback at the checkout. When it gets taken from your bank its just seen and one transaction so you get the cashback reward on the cashback from the till without actually spending any extra.

No harm in trying this method out. nothing to lose, potential gain.

Thanks for all the replies (even the lecturing 'angry' one!). I'm surprised to learn that some people seem to be getting the cashback on multiple purchases on the same offer. The purpose of my post was not to complain but to warn people who might, like me, have missed the fact that the cashback was (in my case but it seems not in all cases) a one shot deal; I was annoyed with myself for missing it.
Having read the replies my guess is, since even the same retailer seems to vary (thanks so Speculator for that info), that I won't be the only one who misses it.
    Happy Cashbacking to all.
