BT with no debt

When considering an application for a BT, would a firm reject you on the basis that you don't actually have any debt to transfer.
I'm considering trying to get BT card so I can transfer my partners CC balance to it, as she is having problems obtaining a new card.
Would a bank/lender look at my credit file, see that I have absolutely no outstanding credit (so no apparent reason to actually need a card) and reject it based on that.

I had the Halifax offer of interest free for 15 months and a free BT. But didnt require either.
Not having a BT wont be a decline but if you dont tell them you want to transfer a balance then whats the point of applying?
Not sure if transferring the balance to someone elses debt would be a reason for them to say no. As long as you realise that the debt then becomes your problem not theirs.
If they dont pay then its your credit file that suffers.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Beware that some CCs (very few) don't allow this.I'm considering trying to get BT card so I can transfer my partners CC balance to it, as she is having problems obtaining a new card.

you will be able to get a BT card without having debt... i have done that several times, pushed another card into a positive balance and then got my hands on the money.
but using your card to pay someone elses debt by BT, directly, would be difficult, i suspect.0 -
Unless things have changed in recent years, the only two I remember having issues with this were Santander (still the case with phone requested BTs I believe, so make them online instead) and HSBC.but using your card to pay someone elses debt by BT, directly, would be difficult, i suspect.0 -

I'm always slightly confused by planetaria's posts. He seems to live in a different world (or at least country) to the rest of us. For example, he claims to have effectively done money transfers with a BT card and positive balances. I've never been able to do that in the UK, but regularly do it in Australia. The converse is true for taking on my wife's balances, doesn't work in Australia but did it in the UK with 6 different CC lenders since the start of 2014.0 -
By all means ask me anything you want to zerog. certainly only in the UK, stooze-wise. happy to say in advance that i have been stoozing for a good few years though, so i'm not necessarily saying that all i have done can still be done nowadays.0

so doing a balance transfer to someone else's card is ok, YB.... i didn't think that was the case. but i've never tried...i always want the money myself;)0 -
I concur with YB; seldom a problem.
BT'd OH's Aqua reward balance to my Nationwide a couple of months ago (online).

that is an interesting concept.
i am sure that there has been discussion on another forum in the past, with contributors saying that this was extremely difficult. i shall bear it in mind though:)0 -

I have done this 3 times without a problem, once to a capital one and twice to a barclaycard, each time from oh's cards0
