Well going from my own experience and my sister (who's a midwife) professional experience, the third baby does not tend to follow any trend and will do something totally unexpected.

My DD1 was a typical first birth. Straight forward (two weeks early) 7 hours labour nothing extraordinary

DD2 was 2 weekslate and was bornon the morning she was supposed to have been induced.

DS was 9 days late, and was blimmin awkward. He was back-to-back and it was really painful after 2 easy births. Hubby went straight to the vets after he was born LOL (true:o)

My first was induced, 2 weeks late didn't want to be born at all, after 30 hours of lazing around in there, the midwife got her wellies on and went in and got him. He's still so laid back he drives me insane sometimes

Second was 15 minutes start to finish, almost born in the lift, in fact was actually born just outside the labour ward. 1 week late. She still lives 100 miles an hour.

Third, creature of habit, day she was due, labour started at 9 am sharp, no messing around, 2 hours 20 mins, enough time to get into the labour ward and for the midwife to get her gloves on.

So, they were all different but so very much like the children they turned into.

My third was born 45 mins after the first twinge! Started with contractions every 5 minsm then everything was breakneck speed. Waters broke in car on the way to hospital, baby daughter born while I was trying to get on the bed and the nurses were telling me I couldn't possibly be as far advanced as I was saying! They apologised after but by then I didn't care :D

However, all my children were anything between a week and 3 weeks early and even the first one which was a face first delivery was still only about 5 hrs from absolute start to finish.

    Good luck with yours:T

    My own experience is

DD born nine weeks prem easy enough birth even though double breech.

DS1 induced at 39 wks not too bad all went according to plan prostin wed night waters broken thurs at 4pm born Friday 1.05am

DS2 41 wks induced (or that was the plan) had prostin two hours l8r heartbeat dropped to 82bpm no recovery rushed off for emergency section under general awful awful awful but babs was fine now a healthy 16wk old weighing 15lb 11oz

All different however my best friend also has three kids middle was the hardest (also the biggest) third she arrived at hospital and had him 45mins later he was her easiest according to her.
So two different experiences expect the unexpected am sure it will all be fine and I tried every old wives tale going to shift the third he wasnt having any of it so if I was u I wouldn't even bother with them.

Good luck for the birth though let us all know how u get on.

DS1 was 22 days early - worst birth of my 3, back to back position and got stuck !
DS2 8 days late - almost flew into the world just after my arrival at hospital
DD1 8 days early- normal 3 hour labour no problems.

They're all so different, I can't see any patterns emerging. Good luck with the birth. Just so you're prepared the afterbirth pains were awful after my 3rd and nobody warned me !

1st baby - 8 days late - in labour proper for 13 hours - very hard birth 9lb

2nd baby - induced 1 day early - in labour proper for 7 hours - relatively easy birth 9lb 7oz

3rd baby - induced 3 days late - in labour proper for 7 hours - relatively easy birth 9lb 3oz

4th baby - induced 11 days late - in labour proper for 10 hours - very hard birth 9lb 5oz

The labour and birth of number 2 and 3 were almost identical. By far the easiest of the 4.

Everyone is different. You've had 2 already. It'll be like shelling peas. ;)

I hope you get your wish and baby comes in on time (or should that be out?). :)

As long as you're not like my best friend from school. Standing at the kitchen sink, doing the washing up after tea, thinking "Oooo, hang on ...... Crikey! That smarts a bit."

25 minutes later DD2 (her 3rd baby) was born in the ambulance on the way to hospital. Less than 30 minutes from first rumblings to birth - my kinda labour. :D

BF said it was just far too quick and very traumatic. Her husband wasn't with her because he had to stay home with the other children until he could find someone to babysit them them.

Number 3 for me took days :o. Well, kind of. 10 days overdue, they tried all the usual depth charges etc to blast her out, but DD2 wouldn't budge. I'd had trouble giving birth to DS1 (almost 10lbs, head on the 98th centile :eek::eek:) so the doctors suggested a C section for this one. Phew!:D

Good Luck and wishing you well with Baby #3.

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.

Baby 1 - in labour for 8 hours. Easy natural delivery at 37 weeks.

Baby 2 - in labour for 3 hours. Easy natural delivery at 37 weeks.

Baby 3 - arrived at 36 weeks. Had bursts of contractions that kept stopping and starting for 2 days, then finally went into a 23 hour labour. Contractions kept stopping so ended up having waters broken, then an oxytocin drip to keep the contractions going. Actual delvery was quick and easy though, but I was knackered by then!

Best of luck with the birth. I'm just fed my baby and I'm getting big gummy heart melting smiles as I type this so it certainly was worth the bothersome labour :D
