AOL Broadband and Vista

So I have bought a new laptop (and I love it!) and I thought I had done my homework but some how I missed the fact that AOL BB does not work with Vista.

I have tried reading thru here but have gotten myself addled!

I am at a loose end now and not sure what to do next? If I buy a wireless router should that allow me to get back online? I don't want to wait a week for an EBay purchase so may have to hit the High Street.

I think I need a wireless router that is AOL/Vista compatible - I guess in a long winded fashion I am asking if anyone could recommend a good reasonably priced buy from the High Street?

Thanks

Ask AOL to sort out your problem or you'll change ISP.

Have you tried searching for an update to your USB modem? Which modem is it?

I have the BT Voyager 100 - was told earlier by AOL that it couldn't be upgraded

They just offered me a router if I leave my special long term customer £10 a month package and transfer to £29 a month for 18 months

    hahahahaaa

OK The BT voyager 100 is a non starter in Vista.
The router is probably your best way forward, you can use it in wired mode. Shop around but you'll find online prices a lot cheaper than the high st.

£29.99?? :naughty: They are offering the "up to 8MB" for £9.99, if you're persuasive enough they'll give it to you.

Or go for the £29.99 and as long as it has a cooling off period, phone after a couple of days to say you want it for £9.99 a month or you'll walk, that's how I got my free router and then went from the £14.99 a month AOL Silver to £9.99 a month AOL Silver :D

    Hi there!

I think you can get back online if you go to:

    http://help.aol.co.uk/what-is-aol-90-vr/article/20070110072309990011?n=collection&p=AOL%209.0%20VR%20(Vista%20Ready)%20help_portal&c=help_portal

There is a link on the right to download AOL9.0VR (Vista friendly)

    Hope this helps.
