Two different words with two entirely different legal definitions, one practice being in the main, legal and one being illegal with you accusing ebay of the illegal activity so no, I don't consider it being in the least bit pedantic.

Your opening post is all about regulations and legalities so what is wrong with pointing out that you were incorrect about a legal aspect?

Do you have any solutions, rather than simply ranting about the problem? I'm a seller, and would happily support the UK DSRs being enforced but then you have the issue of "who says it's faulty" - what if the buyer says it's faulty but has actually just changed their mind? Who is the arbiter? ebay? How?

I don't suppose for one minute that majority of the decent tax paying public care whether it is evasion or avoidance which is just legalised evasion. But your point does deflect from the main principal and intention of my post as no doubt intended.

Oh, and I do apologise most profusely for my 'slip' and would like to highlight most strongly that I inadvertantly used the wrong word!

Yep, I'd like to get the support of somebody who is high profile, has the resources and the required knowledge to get EBay to clean up their act. That's been my sole intention from the outset! - You see, not a rant. - An intention to try to 'stimulate' a positive outcome.:rotfl:

The Distance Selling Regulations cover your right to cancel your contract.

Faulty goods are covered under the Sale of Goods Act but the principle is correct that a business seller should cover reasonable costs where the goods do not confirm to the contract as required under the Act (private sales are covered but only in that the item must be as described at the point of sale).

Without being rude I didn't read most of the opening post as it's a big block of text but soon eBay will be putting managed returns in place and in a lot of cases (depends on the product, won't cover very large things) give the buyer a returns label charged to the seller when you've purchased with a registered business.

  • Thanks,

Any idea of the time frame? - A previous response states that something is happening, but that it is slow. Also have EBay announced this or where did you find out about it?

Been in process for some time as I mentioned earlier, some more details here http://tamebay.com/2014/03/ebay-uk-seller-release-2014-mandatory-managed-returns-for-all-business-sellers.html
