Take another look at Youview

My loyalty discount was about end on virgin and my monthly bill was going up to £70, so I was looking around for deals. I looked at Youview and dismissed it.
Long story short, by removing a so called free V+HD box from when I upgraded to TiVo, I am now paying £45 a month (so how was that Free).
This left the bedroom with just a free view Tv, My wife liked to record her programs to watch in bed.
So it was when I was looking for a freeview box that could record on, I found out that YouView boxes had freeview receivers in them, and depending on the model, also could record. Plus all the on demand stuff.
But the boxes are very expensive!
Well if your happy with second hand, I picked a TalkTalk Youview box For £19.99 at Cash Converters.
Plugged the aerial in and linked it to the virgin router, and Hey Presto
Pause and rewind live TV, record one program and watch an other, all the catch up and on demand stuff.
The only thing that doesn't work is the big TalkTalk button in the middle or the remote.
Ok I can't garentee the spec of all the youview boxes, but the model I have is the huawei dn370t badged for TalkTalk.
I now have 3 boxes and am keeping my eye out for an other.

£20 seems crazy cheap, all the ones on their website are much more, any reason you got yours so cheap?
Never been in one but I drive past one every Saturday and they are queuing outside laden with bags of stuff to sell, something must be going on.0 -
I got one at £19.99 In it's box with all the protection stickers on all the cables in sealed bags and unused batteries for the remote. The second one had a box but had had some use, again £19.99. The third I got for just £7 because it didn't have a power supply.
I do think they have sold them cheep, but at another Cash Converters they had 5 for sale at £30 each and a local second hand store had 2 at £30 as well.0 -

I don't think people realise what they can actually do. They just see the name Huawei and think uggh! Crap! The Humax ones sell for far more. But barring TTs zapper box, all the models actually do the same thing.0 -
The vast majority of YouView equipment is marketed by BT and TalkTalk. Very little is sold through the High Street as its vastly overpriced.
They seems to be disposing of lots of equipment through eBay and other outlets.
Cash Converters will be getting equipment from someone who's had a free box from BT or TT, and will be happy to get £10 for it."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
