I've never canvassed, sensitive soul that I am, but if you are employed too, the evenings is the only timeyou can do such work.

Quite. I've always worked full time so canvassing took place in the early evenings - it's the best time to catch people in. I wouldn't do it any later than 7 as I know how annoying it is to be disturbed in the middle of Corrie or Eastenders!

But they didn't know that before they arrived in the evening!

I agree, and would have had sympathy if they had a) taken note of myself/the neighbours and b) not ignored the cold caller signs.

I'm not aware as to whether they're exempt or not, but common sense would say that knocking the door of someone who asks you not to is probably not going to get you anywhere you want to be, fast...

One of them knocked on my door last night, it was almost as if he'd waited for me to get out of the car and through my front door.

Sadly, as I'd just cone home from the vets having had to have one of my cats put to sleep, he got very short shrift.

Normally I wouldn't but he carried on waffling on and on, despite it being very obvious that I was upset.

Also, considering the shambles in Brighton, I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole anyway!

What are the shambles in Brighton that can be attributed to them? They aren't in overall control there.

Country complains that of canvases and then complain that they don't know enough about each political party to make an informed vote. They can't win.

But they are only allowed to canvas when its not babys bath time, tea time, lunch time, dinner time, there are no soaps on or if there is no one under 5 in the house

they should all know that especially in Brighton because the neighbour said so

Because God forbid someone who was going to vote actually spent some time reading up on their options.
If people are complaining that they don't know enough about who to vote for, then why not spend some time doing research rather than waiting for someone to knock your door?

Yeah, the neighbour said so, the sign on the door said so, but apparently the best way to gain voters is to ignore them all and do as you wish...
