I am in my thirties and I do knit. I also cross stitch and am doing a huge project at the moment. At least you will be doing something creative useful and productive whilst he is sitting on his bum watching TV (a good bet if he is like my hubby). Silly to say its for old ladies, stereotype much. Don't knit anything for him, make yourself a beautiful pullover.

I'm 27 and have been knitting since my daughter was born 7 years ago. My Granny taught me when I was little, but I really got back into it when knitting wool nappy covers to go over cloth nappies. I now knit socks, hats, scarves, tea-cosies, dolls, shawls and whatever else I like on Ravelry. I'd only be sitting watching TV in the evenings otherwise, I might as well be productive at the same time :)

I find that wool isn't cheap - my hubby has been wanting a jumper for years but the thought of paying out for all that wool is a bit  In the past I have bulk-bought 10kg of undyed wool yarn and dyed it myself, it worked out at about £3 per 100g which was a bargain really, so I may have to do that again.

I'm also teaching my daughter and DH, who was so pleased with himself when he had knitted up several inches of a scarf!
